Junction, was an Outer Rim[1] and New Territories[2] celestial body situated along the Hydian Way[1] super-hyperroute,[3] which connected it to the astronomical objects Toprawa and Celanon. It was situated at the coordinates O-5 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Junction was first depicted in the current Star Wars canon on a map in the 2016 Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying sourcebook Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game.[1] It originated in Star Wars Legends as a trade planet formally named Feriae Junction.[4] The world first appeared in the twenty-seventh issue of the 1977 Star Wars comic series, written by Archie Goodwin, illustrated by Carmine Infantino,[5] and published by Marvel Comics on June 26, 1979.[6] While the comic only identified it as Junction, its formal name was first given in "The Hunt Within: Valance's Tale: Part 4," a Wizards.com roleplaying article that included "Mission 4: The Doom of Ultaar," a scenario which could be used for the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Miniatures game. Published on January 7, 2005, the article was authored by Jason Fry.[4]
The Feriae Junction was introduced in canon when it was mentioned in flashbacks in the sixth issue of the 2020 Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic series,[7] written by Alyssa Wong and published by Marvel Comics on November 25 of that year. The mention itself was also included in the issue's preview on StarWars.com a week prior.[8] However, no connection has been made in canon between Feriae Junction and Junction.
