- "Drol is not a ghost. Rather, it is a Separatist security system."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi explains to the Iegoans the true nature of the "Curse of Drol"
Drol, also known as the Ghost of Drol, was the fictional ruler of Iego. The planet's inhabitants believed that Drol was responsible for preventing them from leaving. However, the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker discovered it was actually laser web left in place by the Separatist Alliance, and destroyed it.[1]
History
- "The spirit of the thousand moons, our protector and destroyer."
- ―Amit Noloff describes Drol to the Jedi
In 21 BBY,[2] Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker travelled to the planet Iego in search of a Reeksa root. Upon arrival they were greeted by Jaybo Hood and his army of B1 battle droids. He informed them that the system was "haunted" or "cursed" by the phantom ruler of Iego, Drol. Superstitiously believed to be a deity by Iegoans and referred to semantically as a ghost, Drol was in fact the LaserWeb Defense Station, left behind by the Separatist Droid Army after abandoning the planet. It was surmised by the inhabitants that "He destroys anything that leaves the planet" after having fifty star pilots, believed to be the best in The Galaxy, perish attempting to escape. Kenobi and Skywalker later discovered the true nature of the ghost by attempting to leave the planet through the moon belt aboard the Twilight and witnessing a web of lasers block their path. However, upon relaying this information back to the Iego council, they were met with skepticism from the particularly zealous Amit Noloff. After the Jedi had destroyed the weapon formerly revered as a god, this same Quarren did not appear to celebrate as emphatically as his fellow citizens.[1]
