Door girl

"What about in there?"
"Just keep walking."
―The younglings Wim and Fern, looking at a dance club[2]

Door girls were female[3] individuals who occupied themselves with enticing passers-by to enter an establishment. During the New Republic Era, this career path was followed by the Theelin Melna and an alien colleague of[2] hers,[3] who worked as door girls for a dance club located in[2] Starport Borgo.[4] In addition to being a door girl, Melna also worked as a dancer.[5]

Around 9 ABY,[1] as Melna and her companion enticed passers-by to enter the dance club, they were noticed by Fern, KB, Neel, and Wim, a group of younglings who sought a way back to their home planet of At Attin. Fern rebuffed Wim's suggestion to enter the establishment, and so the children walked away. Melna, however, had noticed the youngsters and later attempted to help them, despite finding it difficult to believe the strangers' claim of hailing from At Attin.[2]

Behind the scenes

Door girls first appeared in the live-action television series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, making their canonical debut in the second episode, titled "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier,"[2] which premiered on December 2, 2024.[6] The name of the profession was provided in the Disney+ audio description of the episode, narrated by Jedediah Barton.[3]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition, "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well. StarWars.com SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
