Charr

For other uses, see Charr.

"I like to see my quarry up close and personal."
―Charr[1]

Charr was a Trandoshan male[3] Hunter at the Grand Arena on Vespaara.[2] As a big game hunter, Charr sought out prey on many worlds, including Pagodon, where he hunted ravinak;[4] Felucia, where he battled a sarlacc;[5] and Hoth, where he killed both tauntauns and wampas.[6][7]

Biography

"Now, the contest begins…"

In 9 ABY,[8] the Trandoshan Charr partook as a Hunter in the sporting competition Hunters of the Outer Rim[1] being held on the planet Vespaara.[9] As a newcomer, Charr challenged the Wookiee Hunter Grozz for a fight, though the Trandoshan was left unanswered. While Grozz's decision left him confused, Charr became more eager for the challenge. The human Hunter Zaina took notice of Charr's bothersome behavior against Grozz, pushing her to challenge him instead. Charr then accepted the surprising challenge thrown by Zaina.[1]

Charr later went on victorious against Zaina, but the Trandoshan had a newfound respect for his opponent. Despite his win, however, the confusion of Grozz's decision to ignore his challenge still lingered. Later, Grozz finally issued a statement that he would not accept challenges from upstarts who had yet to prove themselves, leaving Charr in anger and vowing revenge against the Wookiee.[1] At some point, the human Hunter Rieve accidentally barged in on Charr, who was dressing up in a prep pod.[9]

Personality and traits

"Some privacy, please!"
―Charr, to Rieve[9]

Charr was a Trandoshan with green skin and orange eyes with a white streak on his right eye. He wore an orange sleeveless vest with yellow tunic underneath. He decorated himself with a hide and skull of a nexu around his torso.[1]

Being a big game hunter, Charr had a passion for the wilderness, a trait which he and sharpshooter Diago Velaar bonded over.[1] He also had great respect for the bounty hunter Bossk'wassak'Cradossk, a fellow Trandoshan whom Charr believed was worthy of becoming an Arena Hunter.[10]

Equipment

"Rancors have an armored hide capable of withstanding blaster fire. Still, you're more likely to sssurvive the encounter if armed."

He utilized a scatter gun as his primary weapon. The Trandoshan also carried a backpack filled with various trinkets and traps, such as the Snare Trap.[1]

Behind the scenes

Charr first appeared in the novel Hunters: Battle for the Arena,[2] which was written by Mark Oshiro and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press on March 7, 2023.[11] Charr was pictured for the first time in the video game Star Wars: Hunters, during update 0.18.0 as a new playable character, which released on September 13 of the same year.[12] He was voiced by Adam James in the game.[3]

Upon global release of Hunters on June 4, 2024, Charr was available to unlock through the Hunter's Path progression system, where he was the eighth unlockable character. Charr is considered a level-three difficulty Tank-class Hunter. He has three active abilities. His Snare Trap keeps enemies in place when caught in its vicinity. His Laser Tether attaches Charr to an enemy to keep them near. His Regen Booster heals him and converts all incoming damage into additional healing. Charr also has a talent known as Dig In, in which his claws reduce the effectiveness of knock-back attacks. Charr's Ultimate is Ferocious Hunt, in which his movement speed increases as he throws down his scatter gun, swiping furiously with his claws. Attacks pin enemies down, and eliminations increase its duration.[1]
