A battle baton was wielded by Gial Ackbar when he served as Captain of the Mon Calamari Guard during the Clone Wars.
History
In 20 BBY,[3] Captain Gial Ackbar used a battle baton[4] during the Battle of Mon Cala. Ackbar the baton while he led the Mon Calamari Guard. He used the built-in blaster in the weapon to destroy aqua droids and protect Prince Lee-Char from danger.[1]
Behind the scenes
The battle baton is based on an accessory of Ackbar's Return of the Jedi action figure. "Prisoners" director Danny Keller remembered that as a child he imagined the baton was a blaster, and thus it was canonized.[2] The baton first appeared in "Water War," the first episode from the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars fourth season.[1]
