Tar-Tars are robots that appear as an enemy in the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom and its remake Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated. These enemies make their debut in Jellyfish Fields as the third robot SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy encounter in their adventures. In the cutscene where the enemy is introduced, a single Tar-Tar can be found shooting some targets with pictures of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy on them. Patrick reacts to this in fear.

Description

Tar-Tars are humanoid robots. It carries a large container of tartar sauce attached to a hose strapped around its back that lets it shoot it out at its enemies. The tartar sauce bottle is big and has a label in the original with a red lid, while in the remake, it is a smaller bottle shaped with an open, black lid and the label is now on the back.

Role in game

Tar-Tars are fairly common enemies in the game, first encountered in Jellyfish Fields and appearing in almost every other level in the game. Tar-Tars can attack their opponent from a fair amount of distance away and always shoot out three rounds of tartar sauce with accuracy, making approaching them difficult. Tar-Tars are one of the few enemies in the game that must be attacked more than once to defeat, their health being drained in two hits. However, they can be taken down in one hit with Sandy's lasso, SpongeBob's Bubble Bowl, or Patrick throwing something at the enemy.

Tar-Tars are often found alongside other members of their kind or other robots. They drop thirty Shiny Objects when destroyed.
