It is mostly used during silly and lighthearted moments. Starting with "You Don't Know Sponge," this track has been resampled to be 1.46 semitones lower and 8.1% slower.

Trivia

  • On July 16, 2024, Steve Belfer uploaded an early recording of "Gator" on his YouTube channel. According to the video description, it was written in 1997. Notably, this version is called "Seaweed," the title another three Steve Belfer tracks are known by.
    • Interestingly, an early version of "Seaweed 1" in turn is called "Gator."
  • The only seasons in which this track does not play are season 3, season 13, and season 14.
  • Interestingly enough, both this track and "Seaweed" have not been used in the main series since "Pat Hearts Squid," a season 12 episode.
  • To date, "Squeaky Boots" and "New Digs" are the only episodes in which this track plays in a scene featuring Mr. Krabs.
  • The scene from the second movie is, to date, the only scene that this track plays in that doesn't involve SpongeBob, Patrick, or Squidward.
  • "Salsa Imbecilicus" is the only season 9 episode to use this track.
  • The last episode to use this track in its normal pitch and tempo is "The Abrasive Side."
  • "That Sinking Feeling" and "Karate Star" play this soundtrack low-pitched, but at different levels.
  • Between "Bubble Troubles" and "Salsa Imbecilicus," this track took almost five years to return in episode form.
  • The song is used as the backing sample for "Nerdpants."
