Rancho Conejo is a frontier ranch about two days' ride from Miradero, across the Badlands. It is the terminus of an annual mustang drive ridden by Mr. Granger. When the PAL were thirteen years old, in Lucky's second autumn living back in Miradero, Lucky, Pru, Abigail, Rusty, Pablo, and Javier joined Mr. Granger on the mustang drive, and Abigail and Pru were the first to reach the ranch with the mustangs, while an injured Javier arrived later and recuperated from a leg wound in a large buckboard wagon at the ranch. The ranch features a large horse corral, similar to Mr. Granger's ramada in Miradero, but much bigger, with a Texas Longhorn bull skull adorning the main gate, as well as wide open pastures and beautiful mountain vistas.[1]
