Poseidon

Appearance

Poseidon is a middle aged man with long blue hair, and a blue beard. His face is simple and not handsome, but it is extremely majestic. He has a pair of calm and slightly stern eyes with a faint light flowing inside. His skin is tanned, and he has a strong brow and jawline. He wears a white gold robe and a golden crown.^[1]

History

Once a human cultivator wielding a Trident sea-type tool spirit, he gradually became strong and was worshiped by many sea spirit masters and sea spirit beasts during his travels among various islands and reaches of the Douluo Planet seas. During his travels, he helped many spirit masters and sea-type spirit beasts while ending many conflicts, thereby obtaining great belief from them that would allow him to evolve and advance to a True God, reaching the level of a 1st Class God. As a God, he became acquaintances with his successor Tang San's predecessor, a Great God King the Asura God.

At some point in the past, Poseidon blinded one of the eyes of the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King.

He is worshiped by denizens of the Nine Star Sea, notably on Sea God Island. Bo Saixi, his descendant, led the Sea God Temple for many years. He is attended by the Seven Children of the Sea God, a title given to the protectors of the Seven Pillars of Sea God Island.

Plot

Pre-SL1: Before God Ascension

Before he attained god rank, he travelled the world with the Angel Goddess, who was also mortal rank at the time, and helped civilians from spirit beasts and natural disasters. They were said to be the strongest soul masters on Douluo Continent, possibly Limit Douluos. While he may have been willing to search for a path to becoming a god to change the world for the better, it should be noted he wasn't as ambitious as the Angel Goddess who wanted to control the continent, eventually leading to their clash over the Angel Sword.

Rebellion of the Crown Prince

After the failed attempt of seizing the throne of Heaven Dou Empire by Qian Renxue, the emperor of Heaven Dou, Xue Ye, gifted Tang San the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud. When Tang San tried using the artifact, it rendered him unconscious. Poseidon appeared as a projection and designated him as his successor.

Journey to Sea God Island

Poseidon saved Tang San from the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, threatening to blind his other eye if he didn't leave, but spared his life due to his slow cultivation speed. He expressed hope that Tang San wouldn't let him down, and vanished.

Sea God Trials

Receiving the Trials

When the Shrek Seven Monsters and Bai Chenxiang were escorted by the residents of Sea God Island to the Sea Horse Pillar to receive the trials of the Sea God, they were refused by the Sea Horse Douluo due to the suspicion of them being from Spirit Hall. Poseidon ordered the Titled Douluo to conduct the ceremony to receive the trials by activating the vast sea cosmic shroud, releasing his aura from Tang San's body. Poseidon bestowed a yellow trial to Bai Chenxiang, black trials to Dai Mubai, Oscar, Ma Hongjun, and Zhu Zhuqing, red trials to Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong, and the Sea God Trials to Tang San.

When Bai Chenxiang completed her yellow trial, Poseidon upgraded it to a purple trial. Whenever the Sherk Seven Monsters completed a trial, he would reward them based on their performance and tell them the contents of their next trial.

Meeting Tang San

Return to Star Dou Forest

When Tang San and Xiao Wu traveled to Star Dou Forest to meet with Da Ming and Er Ming, they found them engaged in battle with Bibi Dong and a team of Spirit Hall Titled Douluo. Tang San districted Spirit Hall, managing to kill Ghost Douluo with the help of Qin Ming, while Xiao Wu lead Da Ming and Er Ming away. When Tang San was about to be corned, Poseidon appeared to help him and teach him the first three of thirteen weapon techniques he created when he became a god.^[2]
