In the Nintendo Switch version of the game, Wendy is a guest character that is only playable in 100m Freestyle. To unlock her, the player must defeat Wendy in 100m Freestyle as Silver the Hedgehog in Chapter 5 of the game's story mode. In this mode, Wendy would guard Bowser Jr. at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre while the latter was busy playing with the Tokyo '64. When Miles "Tails" Prower and Luigi's party came for Bowser Jr., Wendy wound up being challenged to an event by Silver the Hedgehog. Though Wendy lost, she faked being a sore loser in order to distract the heroes while Bowser Jr. escaped, before departing herself. Later, after having heard about how Tails and Luigi "stole" the Excitement Battery from Larry, Wendy helped Ludwig steal the Excitement Battery from the heroes when Luigi showed it to Ludwig in Makuhari Messe Hall B so they could give it back to Larry. However, Ludwig was inspired by Wendy's boasts to have a competition for the Excitement Battery, with the winner getting to have the battery. After Ludwig lost this competition, Wendy belittled Ludwig. When they then got spooked by the Excitement Battery's glow, the pair accidently relinquished the battery for the heroes to retrieve. Wendy then decided to leave without the Excitement Battery, as she did not want to do work.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Wendy made her first appearance as a playable fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series. However, rather than appearing as a separate character, she appears as an alternate skin for Bowser Jr., another fighter in the game. When Bowser Jr. wears Wendy's skin, he will also assume Wendy's voice and sound clips. Even the in-game announcer will refer to Bowser Jr. as Wendy. In addition, she rides a mass-produced version of the Junior Clown Car used by Bowser Jr., which has a color scheme that matches Wendy's. This includes yellow bulb eyes and a pink cockpit rim and propeller. In the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, Wendy must be unlocked like Bowser Jr. In the Wii U version of the game on the other hand, Wendy is a starter character, making her available from the beginning.

In gameplay, Wendy possesses the same body proportions and weight as Bowser Jr. Also, her techniques and statistics are identical those of Bowser Jr.'s too.
