Trivia

Shenmue1
  • In Shenmue and Shenmue II, there are various gashapon vending machines where Ryo Hazuki can buy a random capsule toy for ¥100 (Shenmue) or $5 (Shenmue II). There are vending machines for characters from Sonic the Fighters, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Fighter Kids and other Sega games. He can also win rare toys of Metal Sonic and Super Sonic from Sonic the Fighters that are prizes for purchasing certain products at convenience stores in the games. In Shenmue III, the Sonic and Sega themed capsule toys are gone since the game was not made by Sega and YS Net did not have the rights to their characters.
  • In promotion of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, a 7" figurine of Ryo in a forklift was available as a sweepstakes prize, but limited to 1000 pieces.[2]
