Seasonal Shrines (ＮＥＯ ＺＥＥＤ秘密基地 Neo Jīdo Himitsu Kichi?, lit. "Neo Zeed Secret Base") is a track that appears in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, representing the Shinobi series. It is the home track of Joe Musashi.
Description
Starting from a bamboo forest, Seasonal Shrines takes racers through a Japanese landscape featuring an underground river, past a Buddha statue, across bridges and up a tall staircase in a very technical course with many route splits. Every lap, the season and time of day changes after racers leave the underground river, true to the track's name: the first lap begins in spring at dawn, the second lap goes to summer at noon, and the final lap is in autumn at dusk.
Overview
The race starts with a Transformation Gate into boat mode. The player will swim down two waterfalls before encountering a fork. The left route is shorter and leads to a boost pad. The right route on the other hand is longer and leads to a Super Pickup. When both routes reconvene, there will be another Transformation Gate back into car mode. Afterwards will be two stairwells. At the top of both of them is a long left turn. Just before the aforementioned boost pad, on the left is a shortcut leading to a different Transformation Gate, followed by another fork. The left route leads to two hidden tokens and some hidden items. The right route on the other hand leads to the end of the shortcut. At the top of the first stairwell, the main route and aforementioned hidden route will intersect each other. They will both reconvene. The player will follow the main road for a while before encountering another shortcut by the end of the race. The player will likely experience slowdown on the shortcut. When both routes reconvene, the finish line will await.
Trivia
- The music for the car portions of the track is a fast-paced remix of "Idaten" from Shinobi III. The music for the boat portions is a remix of "Japonesque", also from Shinobi III. The intro music is a remix of "Izayoi", again from Shinobi III.
