Mari-Su

This character exists primarily or exclusively within the Pre-Super Genesis Wave continuity.
Information in this article may not be canonical to the storyline of the games or any other Sonic continuity.

Mari-Su of the House of Atrades is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She was the second wife of the Dark Legion's third Grandmaster Luger and the mother of Julie-Su.

Appearance

Mari-Su was a peach-skinned mobian echidna. Her attire included white gloves, a sleeveless shirt and skin-tight pants.

History

Several years after the death of Merin-Da, Mari-Su was found by Luger, who was captivated by her immediately. A while after meeting Luger, Mari-Su married him, and a year later she gave birth to Julie-Su. However, Mari-Su was despised by her step-children Lien-Da and Kragok, and she was eventually assassinated by Lien-Da in a way that made her death appear as a tragic accident.[1][2]

Personality

Mari-Su is described as being loving, supportive, and encouraging.

Relationships

Luger

Mari-Su was Luger's second wife after his first wife passed from an unknown disease. Mari-Su then did her best to support and love Luger just like her first wife did, and Luger made sure to return the same treatment, showing that they were both very fond of each other.

Julie-Su, Kragok and Lien-Da

Julie-Su is Mari-Su and Luger's daughter. Mari-Su was very happy to have her own child. However, Kragok and Lien-Da were not very fond of her, seeing her as a "sickingly perfect version" of their late mother Merin-Da. It was then that they both decided that they had to get rid of both their father and their step-mother.

Trivia

  • Mari-Su's name may be a pun on the character archetype "Mary Sue", which means a character in fiction, usually a young woman, who is portrayed as perfect.
  • Also, her house name "House of Atrades" is a parody of the "House of Atreides" from the Dune series.
