Kayla-La,[2][3] also referred to as Prahb-Jo,[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She was a mobian echidna scientist, the wife of Jordann, and the great-great-grandmother of Edmund and Dimitri. When the White Comet was discovered to be on a collision with Echidnaopolis, Kayla-La devised the plan that saved the city from destruction, creating Angel Island in the process.
Appearance
Kayla-La is a red-furred mobian echidna, with dreadlock-like quills, black eyes, and a pointy peach muzzle with a black nose at the end. She also has long red hair that she wears in a swirl on her head. For attire, she wears a blue jacket, white gloves, and black boots. Later portrayals would also show her wearing a white shirt underneath her jacket.[4]
In Sonic the Hedgehog #101, just like Jordannn, her design was also changed. Her has a yellow hat and a yellow coat with green coat collar.
History
Past
Roughly 600 years ago,[2] Kayla-La's husband Jordann discovered the White Comet hurling towards Echidnaopolis.[5] Kayla-La thus came up with a daring and brilliant strategy to save the city, which would use the power of Chaos Emeralds to lift their city into the sky. She personally took part in the excavation of twelve Chaos Emeralds, and this strategy was used. Although her plan ended up being a success, which led to the creation of the Floating Island, Kayla-La felt that her people were leaving their home behind.[4][5]
Reboot
When Chaos Knuckles went back in time to change history, one of the things he did was destroy the White Comet. This was witnessed by both Kayla-La and Jordann, who were left astonished. Chaos Knuckles undid this change however when Echidnaopolis was destroyed by a massive earthquake.[6]
Personality
While a dutiful scientist, Kayla-La's years of no noteworthy discoveries in space left her somewhat disillusioned by her profession and made her desire excitement. Nonetheless, she has a deep emotional connection to her home, as exemplified in how she took daring steps in order to secure the survival of Echidnaopolis and felt that they were leaving their home behind when they were forced to remove Echidnaopolis from its ancestral home.[5]
Powers and abilities
Kayla-La has proven herself to be a genius scientist, having shown a great deal of understanding of the Chaos Emeralds' mystical properties and how to use science to use them to sever gravimetric lines of force.[5]

- Although Kayla-La first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog #34, her name was not mentioned until Knuckles the Echidna #10.
- Kayla-La was labelled as "Prahb-Jo" on Knuckles's family tree in Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Sonic Comic Encyclopedia. Whether this is an error or a retcon is unknown. It could be likely that this is a nickname for her. Regardless, she is still referred to as "Kayla-La" in the book's "Mobius Timeline" chapter.
- Kayla-La is the name inspiration for the artist known as Kayla-Na.
