Tsugumi Sendo

Tsugumi Sendo (千堂つぐみ, Sendō Tsugumi) is a Fatal Fury character from Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition. She is a female high school wrestler and one of the two original characters in the game, along with Touji Sakata.

She is voiced by Kayo Deguchi (current name: Satsuki Tsuzumi).

Story

A high school student who has entered a student exchange program in Southtown, Tsugumi soon finds herself submerged in a town with an unnatural passion for fighting. Although it wasn't precisely the kind of town she expected it to be, filled with crime and evil ambitions, Tsugumi found it to be a great place to practice her wrestling skills that she had learned in Japan. Tsugumi hears the rumors about a new crime lord in town called Geese Howard, and is intrigued by the fact that Geese has defeated several fighters without contest. More so, Tsugumi finds it very interesting about the fact that many different fighters from different schools of martial arts roam the streets in search of a good fight. Tsugumi thinks that her trip to Southtown might just leave her something more than just school knowledge.

She is cheerful and friendly, but has a passion for fighting, so she challenges every fighter she sees.

Ignore Weight - Tsugumi can grab and throw anyone as heavy as Raiden.

Tsugumi fights with shoot wrestling moves. Some of her move names reference Osaka, like "Tsūtenkaku Driver", "Naniwa Lariat", and "Okonomiyaki-Ire".

Etymology

The name Tsugumi is written in hiragana (つぐみ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (亜美, 亜実, 亜弥, 亜海, 次美, 次実, 次弥, 次海, 都久美 or 都玖未), it could possibly mean:
- 亜美 - "second, Asia" (亜) (tsugu) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
- 亜実 - "second, Asia" (亜) (tsugu) and "fruit, good result, truth" (実) (mi).
- 亜弥 - "second, Asia" (亜) (tsugu) and "all the more, increasingly" (弥) (mi).
- 亜海 - "second, Asia" (亜) (tsugu) and "sea, ocean" (海) (mi).
- 次美 - "next" (次) (tsugu) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
- 次実 - "next" (次) (tsugu) and "fruit, good result, truth" (実) (mi).
- 次弥 - "next" (次) (tsugu) and "all the more, increasingly" (弥) (mi).
- 次海 - "next" (次) (tsugu) and "sea, ocean" (海) (mi).
- 都久美 - "metropolis, capital" (都) (tsu), "long time" (久) (ku/gu) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
- 都玖未 - "metropolis, capital" (都) (tsu), "beautiful black jewel, nine" (玖) (ku/gu) and "un-, not yet, hitherto, still, even now, sign of the ram, 1-3PM, eighth sign of Chinese zodiac" (未) (mi).
Tsugumi's surname Sendo means "thousand" (千) (sen) and "hall" (堂) (do).

Trivia

Tekken character Asuka Kazama bears some resemblance to Tsugumi. However Tsugumi is friendly and bright while Asuka is cocky and relentless. Tsugumi does not have a particular rival or enemy that she chases after, while Asuka has Feng Wei, Jin Kazama and Lili.
