Reddit is an American social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website in which registered users can submit content to the site such as links, text posts, and images, which can then be upvoted or downvoted by others. Posts are organized by subject into user-created boards called subreddits, which cover a variety of topics including news, science, movies, games, music, books, fitness, food, and image-sharing. Submissions with more upvotes appear towards the top of their subreddit and, if they receive enough attention, ultimately on the site's front page.
The site was founded by University of Virginia roommates Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian in 2005, and the site was acquired by Condé Nast Publications acquired in 2006. In 2011, Reddit became an independent subsidiary of Condé Nast's parent company, Advance Publications.[1]

/r/smosh
Smosh has an unofficial subreddit, /r/smosh, that was launched on December 6, 2011 by Redditor erixsson. Recently, the subreddit has come under new moderation and has been revamped by Redditor sharp_five_v in Reddit's "new" layout. In contrast, the previous "old" site layout still retains its banner with Ian and Anthony. As of March 2024, the subreddit has over 51,000 subscribed users. Some members of the Smosh Family and crew became active on the subreddit beginning in 2022, such as Spencer Agnew, Chanse McCrary, Angela Giarratana, Arasha Lalani, Erica Noboa (who now serves as one of its moderators), Kiana Parker, and Joel Rubin.
On June 12, 2023, the r/smosh subreddit, along with many other subreddits, temporarily switched to private mode, thus ceasing operations, for 48 hours in protest of Reddit's planned changes to its API heavily affecting third-party applications, accessibility, and moderation abilities. [2][3] [4]

- In "IF THE INTERNET WERE REAL 2", Anthony complains how a Bad Luck Brian meme on Tumblr was just stolen from Reddit and how an Ancient Aliens meme was just stolen from 4chan. In the scene parodying 4chan, Anthony finally finds the website that he considers the origin of all memes (according to other Internet elitists), but a jumpcut shows him crying on the floor over what he saw.
- In "TRY NOT TO LAUGH CHALLENGE", Ian and Anthony react to a video compilation called "Reddit's Try Not To Laugh Challenge", which originated from a thread on /r/AskReddit.
