Bydo invades the spirits of the pilots. After their successful combat at the space fortress, the pilots lost their way home, and were caught in a weird space, which brings back various memories for them. It cannot be identified. Is this an illusion or the real world? The evolved enemies that once had struggled with senior R-series fighters reappear with new power.
Evil is the 5th stage in R-Type Delta. It is a Bydo graveyard; pilots must be careful to weave through the obstacles and flying space can get tight very suddenly. Three Bydo bosses from the first R-Type game—namely Shell, Gomander and Green Inferno—are fought in a boss rush at the end of the level and have been heavily damaged and corroded, implying that these are the same exact ones that were previously defeated. And they're eager to settle the score. Evil seems to be filled with some form of fluid. Blooping noises can be heard and from time to time bubbles will be seen rising. A skyscraper partially covered in apple-green Bydo cell masses and an immense gas/oxygen tank with a printed number can be seen. Through light flickers (and brighter lighting effects), it becomes clear pilots are traversing from within a different reality now overrun by the Bydo. Surprisingly, this stage and its music (fittingly titled "Wickedness") evoke themes of despair and anguish.

Boss
Evil has a boss rush, not unlike the Phantom Cell encounter in R-Type III: The Third Lightning.
