Las Cruces, also referred to as The City of Crosses, is the second largest city in the US state of New Mexico. Together with El Paso, Texas and Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Las Cruces forms a combined international metropolitan area with a population totaling 2.7 million.

While traveling to the Red Pyramid, Carter and Sadie Kane are attacked by the goddess Sekhmet when they arrive in the city. They trick the goddess into eating salsa, thinking it is blood, and turn her into Hathor.
