The Griseous Orb is an item introduced in Generation IV.
Effect
The Griseous Orb is intended to be held by Giratina. If it is holding the item, Giratina's Dragon- and Ghost-type moves are both increased by 20% and it changes to its Origin Forme. From Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version onward, Pokémon other than Giratina can hold the item, but it does not affect them.
When Giratina is given the Griseous Orb, a small animation is displayed on the party menu showing black smoke surrounding the Giratina sprite, followed by Giratina letting out its cry, and the smoke clearing, revealing Giratina's transformation. A message is displayed, "Giratina transformed!!".
Description
The Griseous Orb first appears in Pokémon Platinum Version. The player needs to have first entered the Hall of Fame before they can obtain the Griseous Orb. Upon accomplishing the task, the player can go into Turnback Cave and enter the portal leading to the Distortion World. The portal takes the player to an exclusive small path in the Distortion World, at the end of which is the Griseous Orb.

Trivia
- The Griseous Orb has a crystal-like shape, not spherical like the Adamant Orb and the Lustrous Orb. It is the only one of the three orbs not to appear in Pokémon the Series.
- If a Giratina with the Griseous Orb is taken into a battle against a player playing either Pokémon Diamond Version or Pokémon Pearl Version, the Griseous Orb will return into the player's bag automatically, since neither the Griseous Orb nor Giratina's Origin Forme appears in either game. Similarly, in Generation IV games only, trading a Giratina with the Griseous Orb to another game in the generation also reinserts the Griseous Orb into the player's bag.
