She travels with the main character, Ash Ketchum in almost every Pokémon episode up to Hoenn, in which she has been replaced such as May or Dawn, though she sometimes shows up even in these episodes with May, Dawn or any other female companion. In the first episode, Ash borrows her bike to get Pikachu to the Pokémon Center after being attacked by Spearows and they get attacked and the bike gets zapped by Pikachu. Misty would frequently pester Ash about her bike in their travels through Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto, despite forgetting all about it most of the time, before eventually learning that the Nurse Joy in Viridian City had repaired it for her. She's the first with Togepi in the anime. She constantly watches over Ash and Brock, her companions, because they have a tendency to get into trouble. Her relationship with Ash is still unknown but it is shown in many different forms of media that she shows rising affection towards him.
Misty is commonly seen with Pokémon such as Togepi, Goldeen, and Horsea, seeing as she is a Water type Gym Leader. Because of this, she has been considered as an expert in anything related to the water-elemental, including activities outside of Pokémon training, such as swimming and diving.
In the TV series, she is seen wearing a yellow tank top and blue denim shorts, and red sided running shoes. In this costume, her midriff revealed, although her belly button is not drawn most of the time (it is, however, shown when she is wearing a bikini). Later on, this is changed to a yellow sleeveless jacket, yellow shorts, and brown hiking shoes. She ultimately returned to the original outfit in her first reappearance in Sun and Moon and in To be A Pokémon Master, and also got a yellow bikini with red trimmings in her second reappearance in Sun and Moon.
Amongst parents of young Pokémon fans, Misty was soon recognized as a character using sex appeal to draw in boys to watch the show. The creators of the show denied this accusation because she was an "important asset" to the show and could not be removed. Many parents were unhappy and the show was banned from airing in many small countries. According to some parents the reason Misty is classified as "sketchy" is because of her exposing outfit in the first few seasons. Later, this outfit was changed, as well as Misty being replaced by other female companions. Ironically, Masamitsu Hidaka would later claim in a 2008 interview that two of her successors, May and Dawn, primarily acted as sex appeal.[1] Misty rejoined Ash and Brock in Pokémon: To Be a Pokémon Master.

Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. series
Misty had a cameo as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Although the flavor text described her role in the games, the design of her trophy was primarily derived from her anime counterpart, thus technically making her one of two Pokemon-related trophies to be based on their anime counterpart (the other being Meowth, whose flavor text was based on the Meowth's Party CGI opening).
Misty was alluded to alongside Brock, Cynthia, Ash, and Iris in Super Smash Bros for the 3DS and Wii U under the Pokemon Trainer trophy's flavor text.
Pokemon: Puzzle League
Misty is one of the challengers as well as a playable character in the versus match, which was largely based on the anime.
Pokemon Channel
Misty, or more accurately, Kasumi acted as the narrator of a version of the Pichu Bros. Short Pichu Bros. in Party Panic. Aside from this, Togepi delivering the special episode to Pikachu when its unlocked acted as an indirect reference to her and her Togepi.
Mega Man Archie Comics
Although not in the comic serial itself, a special blog for Halloween by Ryan Jampol had Misty acting as one of the design templates for Roll's halloween costumes. She also mentions Ash and wanting her bike back, alluding to her motivation for joining him initially.
↑http://pokebeach.com/2008/07/second-pokemon-interview-with-masamitsu-hidaka-many-interesting-points What about the main cast on the show? Since he had talked about how they like to “switch them up,” I explained to him [Masamitsu Hidaka] that many fans want Ash, Misty, and Brock reunited again together. But, he reaffirmed what he said in the previous interview and said it wasn’t going to happen. I asked him what he meant in the previous interview about Pokemon Contests, and he said he just meant that characters like May have come back for a few episodes in Pokemon Contests, so Misty could come back too. He said, however, that Contests don’t appear to be her thing, so if she were to come back, it would probably be to join Ash in a battle or to just meet them somewhere. So then I said, “Why can’t you just ditch Brock, have Ash, have Misty, and then bring in a new boy? That would be switching up things instead of having a new girl.” His following answers made me laugh my head off I had to pick it up off the floor and reattach it. He stated that they like to switch up the girls because it gives the boys some new eye candy every once in a while. He also said girls are more customizable and you can change their outfits, like when they are in their bathing suits (yes, he specifically said that). He also said Ken Sugimori designs a new girl with each generation and that gives them another excuse to switch the girl, though I reminded him that there is also a new boy with each generation too, and it wouldn’t hurt to use them.
