Viridian City is a fictional city in the Pokémon series located in the Kanto region and has appeared in the first, second, third, fourth and seventh generation games. Located north of Pallet Town, this area's gym is locked until the protagonist obtains all of the seven other badges, where the player will then compete against the Team Rocket leader Giovanni. In the Johto games and rematch in Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Blue took over the gym after obtaining 15 badges in Kanto and Johto. This area also is where the Pokémon Academy and the Trainer House, as well as Pokémon Centers and shops, which almost every town has.
