Fáfnir

Fáfnir is a character that appears in Book V of Fire Emblem Heroes. He is the king of Niðavellir and the older stepbrother of Ótr and Reginn.

Profile

Fáfnir was originally a soldier from a small nation in a different world, where he had a wife and daughter. One day, he woke up in the land of Zenith, having lost his memory. He had been summoned by Eitri, whose summoning experiments failed.

Following a coup d'état in the kingdom of Niðavellir, Fáfnir became the new king in the chaos. He had two step-siblings, Ótr and Reginn, who had come to a small village following the kingdom's collapse. But because he was not the true heir to the kingdom, his crown (designed by Eitri) caused him to become a tyrant, invading other countries. He sent his siblings to work for him, and while Ótr supported him, Reginn did not.

After being captured by Alfonse's forces while invading Askr, he escapes with the help of Loki, who takes him to the Breidablik replica and causes him to realize the cause of his amnesia. He confronts Eitri and begs to be returned to his realm, but Eitri instead turns him into a monster.

As a monster, Fáfnir causes carnage in the capital and kills Ótr when he approaches him. He fights Alfonse's forces, killing Nótt when she jumps in front of her sister Dagr, but ultimately he is killed by Reginn. Before he dies, he regains his sanity and tells Reginn about his homeland, including his family.
