"The Despicable Man" is a quest in NieR and NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., available during the second half of the game. Nier is asked to track down the man who was found dead next to Jakob and Gideon's mother five years back.

Activation

• Speak to the female Villager close to the shopping district's southern entrance after acquiring the Law of Robotics key fragment from the Junk Heap.

Quest log

• The woman sitting diagonally across from the weapon shop asked you to find a young man wearing a gold necklace. Ask around to see if anyone nearby saw him.
• You learned that he's in the Forest of Myth.
• You learned that he's in Seafront.
• You learned that he's at the Junk Heap. Go to Two Brothers Weaponry and ask about him.
• The man is dead. Report back to the client.
• You informed the client of the situation. This wasn't a very pleasant job.
