Its tastes are like that.

Yoo Myeongwoo, Chapter 109

Yoo Eunhye (Korean: 유은혜, RR: Yu Eunhye) is a sentient weapon created by Yoo Myeongwoo for Han Yoojin, with its consciousness manifesting in the form of a blue bird. It was created using the magic stone of Shalos, the former owner of the Forge. Its conscious mind and abilities are growing over time, with Eunhye having graduated from bird-like cheeping to using simple human language.

Official description

Yoo Eunhye – L-rank

A sword birthed from the dragon lord and master craftsman Shalos’ magic stone

Contractor – Han Yoojin[1]

After its dive into a Mana Hole in the virtual reality dungeon, the following line is appended to the first paragraph of its description:

A young spring of mana (connection limited to contractor).[2]

Appearance

Eunhye's consciousness manifests as a blue-feathered bird, round and small enough to be covered by a hand. This bird can be absorbed into and dwell within the weapon or item of jewelry that acts as its primary container.

Eunhye's container can transform between the form of weapons and jewelry. In both kinds of shapes, it appears to be made of a blue-tinted clear material that resembles glass. Eunhye's weapon form defaults to a sword (described as the "fundamental form of dragon hearts"), but can transform into different shapes such as spears upon request. As jewelry, the transparent body of the accessory is also decorated with blue gemstones. While their exact number can change, so far Eunhye has always left at least one present, presumably requiring it to act as an entry point for its bird form. When it's given creative control, Eunhye's jewelry forms tend to be extremely elaborate and covered in gemstones suiting its tastes. Eunhye can also transform into different jewelry items upon request; Han Yoojin usually asks that Eunhye turn into simple accessories with minimal jewels and adornments, not sharing its taste.

Effects

All of Eunhye's skills so far are applicable only to its contractor, Han Yoojin.

  • Damage nullification: Originally Eunhye's sole skill. When fully charged with mana, it can nullify L-rank damage for roughly an hour, and can nullify damage with no rank limitation for around 10 minutes. Its mana can be recharged using magic stones that are at minimum S-rank; the charging process is quite slow, taking about a week when Eunhye is completely discharged.[1]
  • Young Mana Spring: Learned via a brief trip into the Médecin City Mana Hole in the virtual reality dungeon.[2] Eunhye can independently create and supply mana to its contractor. This largely negates the need for recharging Eunhye with magic stones, since it is able to power itself up to a certain degree—a month at an S-rank level, a week at SS-rank, and 24 hours at SSS-rank, potentially up to 1 hour every 12 hours at Myth-rank (though the lattermost runs the potential of damaging Eunhye's Spring ability if used for too long). This also negates the need for Han Yoojin to drink mana potions.[3]

Eunhye is an item capable of growth, so it may manifest other skills or effects in the future.[1]

Synopsis

Yoo Myeongwoo initially discovers Shalos' L-rank magic stone upon gaining the Gold Forge's Owner skill, finding it inside the subspace pouch of materials left by Shalos, and almost immediately begins thinking of using his skill somehow to address the dangers Yoojin faces.[4] As he works to increase his proficiency, creating items up to S-rank such as the Parmini's Ice Wood Spear, he mentions working on a side project, presumably for the aforementioned purpose of helping Yoojin.[5] Yoojin's request for something that increases the body's defensive ability likely gives Myeongwoo direction,[6] leading him to practice making defensive items[7] (some with shavings of Shalos' magic stone[8]) and working on Eunhye all the time.[9] After a notably long[10] and rigorous crafting period[8] labor-intensive enough to make Myeongwoo pass out from mana depletion,[11] he completes and gifts Eunhye to Yoojin, who takes to wearing it as a simplified bracelet.[1]

Yoojin uses Eunhye while going to Jellyfish's dungeon, temporarily deactivating it while talking to Newcomer and Water Droplet.[12] He also takes the opportunity to show Eunhye to Han Yoohyun, who in turn shows Yoojin how easily Eunhye can be taken from him; Eunhye's bird form manifests to peck at him in anger, and when Irin defends its contractor, Eunhye attacks it as well, using human speech for the first time to scold it. Eunhye returns to its bracelet container upon being returned to Yoojin.[13]

Trivia

  • Eunhye chose its name itself.[1] Its surname may have been taken from Yoo Myeongwoo, its creator and "parent".
  • Eunhye resembles Shalos when he was young, Shalos having been a bird before growing in strength and transforming into a dragon.[14]
