Stats (Korean: 스탯, RR: seutaet) are a measure of an individual's physical and magical ability. Only visible to Awakened people through their status windows, they are nonetheless present for all humans, and can be viewed through certain skills for assessing stat ranks.

Overview

The stats of an individual can be measured using mana-powered tools. Five stats are viewable through such measuring tools and the status window: Stamina, Strength, Agility, Mentality, and Mana. These five stats- more specifically, their average- is what determines the main rank of the vast majority of Awakened people. The highest possible stat rank possible upon first Awakening is S-rank, while the lowest is F-rank.

Research has determined that more stats exist that are not listed in the status window or through skills that can check stats. Even when equipment is used to match the stats of two people of different rank, the higher-ranked person is superior in all respects.^[1]

Stats

Stamina

Stamina (Korean: 체력, RR: cheryeok, lit. "physical strength") measures one's endurance and energy.

Strength

Strength (근력, geullyeok, lit. "muscular strength") measures of one's physical strength. Physical combat Hunters rely heavily on high Strength and Stamina stats.

Agility

Agility (민첩, mincheop) measures one's speed as well as agility.

Mentality

Mentality (정신력, jeongsinnyeok, lit. "mental strength") is a measure of one's willpower and mental tenacity. Support-focused Hunters are known to have higher than average Mentality stats.

Mana

Mana (마력, maryeok) is a measure of one's magical reserves. Mana (capitalized) as a stat is distinct from mana as the force of magic; the latter is what is stored by magic stones, and Mana (the stat) measures one's ability to call upon and draw mana (the energy). Skill usage draws on one's mana reserves; when said reserves are half-depleted, the skill user feels a dull headache as a warning, and when only 20% mana remains, the user falls unconscious.

This is notable for being the slowest growing stat, so much so that it is excluded when calculating the average stat for a rank assessment.^[2]

Hunters known as mages, who rely more on their skills than their physical strength for fighting, have a high Mana stat.

Values

Stats between ranks differ greatly; the rate of increase in stats between different ranks is not explicitly defined. Calculations suggest a roughly exponential increase, rising by around 75% in the lower ranks to 60% in the higher ranks.

At level 1

• F-rank stats average close to or below 5.^[2]
• C-rank stats average at around 26.5.^[3]
• S-rank Strength can range from the 60s to an upper limit around 100.^[4]

At level 2

• S-rank Stamina is around 100.^[1]

Growth

Stats grow with each increase in level. The higher one's rank is, the higher the increase in stats with each level.^[5] Over time, it's possible for an Awakened person to rise up in stat rank, usually by one rank and at most by two, past which further growth is impossible.^[2] The time required for a rise in stat rank increases significantly with each rank up; growth from S-rank to SS-rank can take a little longer than 8 years, and growth from SS-rank to SSS-rank is possible only after tens of years.^[6]

Supplementing stats is possible through equipment. Being fully equipped with equipment two ranks higher than yourself can raise your stat rank by one, so a B-rank might use S-rank equipment to become approximately A-rank. However, there is a limit on the rank supplementation caused by equipment; an F-rank can get to at most high-grade D-rank through a full set of S-rank equipment, and so on. Note that this is not a permanent rank increase, but a temporary one lasting the duration of the equipment's usage.^[7]
