Proof of a caregiver who raised a world-class powerhouse.
Caregiver (Korean: 양육자, RR: yangyukja) is a skill title granted to those who are regarded as caregivers by high-rank Awakened people. This title is the primary source of Han Yoojin's most important skills.
Official description
Caregiver
Proof of a caregiver who raised a world-class powerhouse.[1]
Perfect Caregiver
The following description was transcribed from the immoral people's incorrect guess at the nature of the Perfect Caregiver title:
Proof of a caregiver who raised a world-class powerhouse. Your former abilities were your ward’s current abilities +100%, so it is all the more perfect.[1]
However, the true nature of the title, as brought to light by Changeling, is as follows:
A beloved caregiver for whom a born S-rank Awakened person gave their life.[2]
Origin
The Caregiver title is earned by individuals who have contributed to raising another individual, their ward, who Awakens to C-rank or above. The title is granted once both the caregiver and their ward have Awakened. The caregiver is not required to be related to their ward by blood; so long as the duo's relationship is positive, the title can appear. It is a fairly common title, appearing about 8 or 9 times out of 10.[3]
The title's name and strength vary depending on the rank of the ward. In most cases, the caregiver's rank does not have any effect on the title gained.[3]
- Clumsy Caregiver (Korean: 어설픈 양육자, RR: eoseolpeun yangyukja) when ward is C- or B-rank
- Passable Caregiver (무난한 양육자, munanhan yangyukja) when ward is A-rank
- Caregiver when ward is S-rank (exclusive to caregivers of born S-ranks)
- Perfect Caregiver (완벽한 양육자, wanbyeokhan yangyukja) for a caregiver of a born S-rank ward who died for them
- This is an extremely rare title, with only one known bearer.
Effects
Supplementary skills
As a skill title, Caregiver grants a variety of supplementary skills, likely depending on the specialties of the relevant caregiver. Skill ranks vary depending on the rank of the ward. It is unknown whether certain skills are consistently granted by all Caregiver variants. However, based on known examples, the supplementary skills appear to be mainly support and buff skills.
Consistently earned skills include:
Keyword
Some of Caregiver's supplementary skills, in order to be usable, require targets to have been "influenced" by a keyword spoken to them by the title holder. Derivatives of the keyword are also alright, so long as the meaning gets across.[4] For a target to be influenced by the keyword means that they have had an emotional response to it. If a potential target becomes aware of the keyword and its effects, this generally makes keyword-requiring skills ineffective on them. For a emotional response strong enough to meet the title's requirements, the title holder will have to spend time familiarizing themself with the target and growing emotionally closer to them, then apply the keyword.[1] For creatures who cannot speak to the title holder, such as animals and monsters, it is possible to apply the keyword through actions that impart the same meaning as the keyword, while repeating the keyword throughout. For instance, a keyword of "I love you" can be applied to monsters through loving acts.[5]
When the title holder has Perfect Caregiver, upon first being influenced by the keyword, targets subconsciously perceive the title holder as the most impactful caregiver they have known. This effect does not work on targets who have previously not had a significant caregiver, instead increasing their attachment to the title holder directly.[6] This effect is also applied even in cases where the most impactful caregiver was abusive or otherwise harmful towards their ward, which can result in the target lashing out at the title holder.[7]
Known holders
Han Yoojin
Han Yoojin holds two versions of the Caregiver title, each with their own skills and rank.
- Caregiver (rank unknown): Held in the original pre-regression timeline. Used the keyword "do your best".[1]
- My Brat Is The Best (rank unknown): (name unconfirmed) A 10% buff to a keyword-influenced target's growth rate for 1 day. 30 day cooldown for reuse on the same target.[3]
- Last Compensation (rank unknown, lower than L): Transferred a dead target's abilities at double the strength to the title holder for an hour. Also transferred memories related to the title holder.[8]
- Perfect Caregiver (L): Held in the new post-regression timeline. Uses the keyword "I love you".[1]
- My Brat is the Best (L): Similar to the Caregiver title's My Brat skill, but boosts growth rate by 100% for 3 days instead.[1]
- Single skill growth focus: If My Brat's focus is applied to just one skill's growth, it is possible to forcibly acquire specific skills, including optimized skills the target failed to initially acquire.[9]
- Last Repayment (L): Similar to the Caregiver title's Last Compensation skill, but transfers abilities for 7 days instead.[1]
- Our Kid is this Amazing (SS): Using the keyword on targets in front of multiple intelligent creatures boosts the targets' abilities proportionally to the number of listeners. Last for 30 minutes and has a cooldown of 10 days.[1]
- Promising Sprout (S): The title holder can check an Unawakened person's predicted Awakening rank, and can trigger an optimized Awakening for keyword-influenced targets. It has a cooldown of 30 days. Optimized Awakening cannot be used on targets that have already Awakened.[1]
- My Brat is the Best (L): Similar to the Caregiver title's My Brat skill, but boosts growth rate by 100% for 3 days instead.[1]
