Nightcrawler is a mutant with the power of teleportation and a member of the X-Men.
Character History
Kurt Wagner was born in Munich, Germany on April, 24th. In the form of a German noblewoman, the shape-shifting mutant Mystique married Baron Christian Wagner. Meanwhile, Mystique had an affair with the mysterious Azazel from La Isla des Demonas and became pregnant with their child. Azazel told Mystique to raise their child as if it were the Counts'. A heartbroken Raven agreed and, while Christian did become suspicious as to the baby's paternity, his sudden "accidental" death ensured no one else heard his suspicions. The baby was born visibly mutated with blue fur all over, pointed ears, iridescent eyes, and a prehensile tail. Due to the shock and the strain of the boy’s difficult delivery, Mystique lost concentration and accidentally revealed her true form. Word spread of her and the baby's condition and mother and son were chased by a torch-wielding angry mob. Mystique passed out and left young Kurt Wagner floating down a river during her escape.
Azazel later admitted that he secretly saved his son from the fall, giving him to his lover and crony, Margali Szardos, to raise him. Margali took the baby to the small Bavarian circus where she worked as a fortune teller, as a cover for her activities as a sorceress. Wagner was never legally adopted by anyone, but he was raised by all the members of the circus, who had no prejudices against mutants. Margali acted as Kurt's unofficial foster mother. Kurt grew up happily in the circus, and his two closest friends were Margali's son Stefan and daughter Jimaine. Long before his teleportation power emerged, Wagner had tremendous natural agility, and by his adolescence, he had become the circus' star acrobat and aerial artist. Circus audiences assumed that he was a normal-looking human wearing a devil-like costume. The villagers of Winzeldorf, who assumed from Kurt's appearance that he was the one who killed the children, attacked. They were about to kill him when they were all psychically paralyzed by Professor Charles Xavier, who came to recruit Wagner into the X-Men. With the codename Nightcrawler, Wagner becomes a member of the X-Men and goes on many missions with them for years before becoming a member of the Ultimate Alliance.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance: Story
Nightcrawler was first seen attempting to escape Castle Doom in Latveria, using wall-mounted swords to fight off Doombots. However, he failed to escape when a booby-trapped door rendered him unconscious. When the heroes of Earth, all united to combat the Masters of Evil led by Doom, learn of his capture, they use the Orb of Teleportation in the Sanctum Sanctorum to travel to Latveria but are unaware that the orb was rigged by Baron Mordo to send them to Arcade's Murderworld. There, they come into conflict with Jean Grey, who had been consumed by the Phoenix and used as a puppet for the Masters of Evil until her consciousness is brought back. When Arcade is defeated and interrogated, he reveals that Doctor Doom captured Nightcrawler and used the Mutant Amplifier on him so he could teleport to Mephisto's realm and make a deal with said demon.
The heroes travel to Mephisto's realm and fight the many hordes of hell until the demon Blackheart, who had just kidnapped Jean Grey puts the heroes to the ultimate test - which hero will they save, and which will be killed? Jean would give up her life to stop Mephisto and save the team. He felt responsible for what happened to her and was heartbroken after the whole ordeal. In an alternative future, Kurt is the one who dies and a distraught Mystique sneaks into the X-Mansion and takes revenge for her son's death on Charles Xavier. Xavier slips into a coma because of his injuries and dies. Xavier's death causes the X-Men to permanently disband.
As a playable character, Nightcrawler will have a dialogue about thinking that Doom and Mephisto cloned him for their evil plans, unaware the original NPC Nightcrawler is his future-self.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3: Story
When the Infinity Stones has been scattered across the Earth and falls into the hands of its supervillains, Nightcrawler, Psylocke and Beast are being deployed by Jessica Jones for an undercover mission to retrieve the Power Stone from the hands of Hellfire Club. After successfully retrieve the Power Stone, Nightcrawler, Psylocke and Beast arrives in time to help The Ultimate Alliance defending Xavier Mansion from Sentinels' attacks, which were deployed by Ultron's last ditch before the latter was sealed inside the Mind Stone he previously possessed and used to attack Avengers Tower. While Nightcrawler and Psylocke joins the battlefield, Beast remains at the X-Jet to safeguard the Power Stone before a Sentinel stole it and transform itself into an Infinity Sentinel, before Magneto and his Brotherhood (consists Juggernaut and Mystique), who were sent by Hellfire Club to steal back the stone destroys the robot, and attack the alliance, leading Deadpool, who only allowed to enter X-Mansion to cook meals for the X-Men to join the heroes, out of personal vendetta towards the Brotherhood for ruining his preparation for his Taco Tuesday. Ultimately, the Brotherhood changes their minds and decide to join the alliance when the Black Order members Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive arrive to steal the remaining stones which the heroes retrieved for Thanos. While Cyclops, Mystique, Colossus and Juggernaut holds off the Black Order, Nightcrawler and his allies, including Magneto and Venom (Eddie Brock) escapes to another dimension thanks to Scarlet Witch, and ultimately ends up at Dormammu's Dark Dimension. Nightcrawler originally planned to use his teleportation to help his allies escape from the Black Order, but thankfully that Beast advises him not to waste his powers as there is no escaping Thanos' force, even Lockjaw understands the situations they are in.
Luckily, when finding out the Dormammu somehow gains an ability to open the rift portals to invade Earth, not only they are joined by Elsa Bloodstone and Ghost Rider, but also finds out that Dormammu has the said ability because the Reality Stone was transported into his dimension, and Dormammu first uses it to brainwash Doctor Strange. Once the heroes rescued Strange from Dormammu's brainwashing, had their brief interference by Loki Laufeyson (who had been watching the alliance's previous against Kingpin for his own ISO-8 research), and briefly weakened the dimension ruler to retrieve the Reality Stone, they temporarily escapes to Attilan, where they are on time stopping Maximus Boltagon's attempt coup and gain an aid from Thanos' illegitimate son, Thane, before deploying to Wakanda to provide reinforcement and rescue Winter Soldier, who temporarily retrieved the Soul Stone from A.I.M. before the science villain group stole it back. Once A.I.M. are forced to retreat after the heroes gathered all the six stones, they are too late to realize that Thanos decided to use them to gather all stones, then finally fully sends all members of the Black Order to finally steal it. However, unable to let his allies died, Thane surrenders to the Black Order by giving them the stones to save his allies, just as Ebony Maw told Corvus to spare Thane, due to being Thanos' heir. Despite Thane's pleases, Proxima instead uses the Space Stone by sending the alliance to be doomed at Hel. However, because of Loki's previous mistakes for distracting Odin Borson into busy fighting Frost Giants at Niffleheim, then allying with Hydra that led Hela to be busy with aiding Red Skull on overthrowing Asgard that led him to be imprisoned for betraying them, the alliance, with the help from Valkyrie manage to escape to Asgard and defeated Surtur, right after Asgard is under siege by Hydra. After Loki joins the alliance to fix his mistakes, and Odin arrives to defeat Destroyer Armored Red Skull and banishes Hela back to her domain, the alliance receives the information from Odin that Thanos wage war against Nova Corps at Knowhere, and the ISO-8 crystals the alliance used are equally powerful to go on par against their powerful foes, with or without the stones. Though Odin cannot join the alliance because of his last use of his Odinforce against the Destroyer Armored Red Skull weakens him, he manage to transport the alliance to Knowhere.
During a battle against Ebony, Nightcrawler is not pleased that the Black Order strategist stole his teleportation tricks. Following Thane's downfall of being corrupted by the stones' powers and ultimately led to summoning the remaining parts of Infinity Armor, a displeased Thanos forms a temporary truce to stop his fallen son, knowing that wearing a full armor that is not a left hand part that powers the stones will kill its user instead, and ultimately sacrifice his life to save the universe.
Sometimes each heroes are entrusted to safeguard their respective stones, then followed by ending Vampiric and Phoenix Force incidents, the alliance has been reformed when Doctor Doom invaded Wakanda to steal the Soul Stone for his own goal. Just as Doom teleported the alliance to the Negative Zone, they are joined by the missing Fantastic Four, who were revealed to be trapped at the zone while chasing the Doom before Thanos' war occurred. The alliance steals Annihilus' Cosmic Control Rod to activate a portal to escape from the Zone. However, as there is no time left before Doom uses the Soul Stone that would doom their universe, Mister Fantastic set the portal to Latveria instead. After defeating a Celestial and Doom's God Emperor form, Reed tells the alliance that they need him, as he discovered that Doom's next plant was meant to save their world from an incoming threat which was awakened from Thane and Thanos' clash, and saving it alone would unknowingly destroyed his own universe.
