Colossus

Colossus is a character in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series. With the exception of second game, he is playable character, albeit the first game has him being specific versions' exclusive, primarily 7th-generation consoles and 2016 re-release.

Character History

Piotr Rasputin was born on a Soviet collective farm called the Ust-Ordynsky Collective near Lake Baikal in Siberia on May, 1st. He lived there with his mother Alexandra, father Nikolai, and sister Illyana. His older brother, Mikhail, had been a Soviet cosmonaut and had apparently died in a rocket accident. Peter's superhuman powers manifested during his adolescence while saving his sister from a runaway tractor. He was then contacted by Professor Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men. Peter Rasputin was part of the second generation of X-Men, formed by Charles Xavier to save the original X-Men from the living island Krakoa. He agreed to leave the farm community where he was born to go to the United States with Xavier. Xavier gave him the name Colossus. After the battle was won, Colossus remained in the U.S. with the new X-Men.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance: Story

Colossus is part of the team that battles Doctor Doom after he gains Odin's powers. Unfortunately, he is defeated along with the rest of the team. He is the first hero to be taken over by Doom when he discovers that he can use Odin's power to made clone. When Nick Fury's team of heroes attacks Castle Doom, Colossus confronts them along with a dark version of Captain America. He is defeated and is presumably returned to normal when the heroes defeat Doom and Odin regains his powers.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2: Story

During the Superhuman Civil War, he sided with Captain America's Anti-Registration team and his White Star guerrilla army, strongly believing that no mutant could possibly justify Registration. Colossus was one of the many among the White Star who was ambushed at Stark's chemical plant, where he and Dagger defended against an elite team of Pro-Registration heroes, though they were defeated. He was taken under the control of the Nanites of the Fold when they began to conquer the world, and was a member of a team which was titled as the "Insidious Alliance." He was presumably freed from their control when Nick Fury under the Fold's control and the main control spire was destroyed.

On the next day, despite Ultron's failed invasion on Avengers Tower led to his downfall that allows the heroes sealed him inside the Mind Stone he used, he uses his last attempt into re-activate the Sentinels to its old mutant hunting programming, targeting the X-Mansion where Cyclops and Colossus are guarding. The Ultimate Alliance immediately rush to X-Mansion to help Colossus and Cyclops, at the same time Nightcrawler, Psylocke and Beast return with the Power Stones. As the Brotherhood of Mutants attempts to steal back the Power Stone from the alliance per Hellfire Club's request, Cyclops told the terrorist mutant group to put aside their hates towards non-mutants, and fight together for time being against much larger threat, Thanos. Despite the Brotherhood's deaf ears, they are finally convinced to join the alliance when one of Thanos' Black Order members, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive arrive to steal the retrieved stones to Thanos. While Mystique is incapacitated by Proxima, Cyclops, Colossus and Juggernaut survives the attacks while holding off the Black Order to ensure Magneto escapes with the alliance and the retrieved stones thanks to Scarlet Witch.

After defeating Celestial and Doom, Mister Fantastic reveals that Doom's plan was meant to save the universe from a new threat that has been awakened from a clash between Thanos and Thane, but was too dangerous to do it alone. As Doom is convinced to join the alliance, both heroes and villains are ready to face a new threat who begins to invade their universe.

Trivia

  • The Colossus that appears in the third game is not the same one who appeared in the first two games, as the third game is set in a different continuity.
  • Despite being an exclusive character in some versions, Colossus is the only X-Men to have no special interactions with any of his fellow members of the X-Men what so ever, as well as his Dark Clone in Doom's Dimension, who claims to be the original even if Colossus is present. Strangely, even Cyclops shares a special conversation with his Dark Clone.
  • A mod available for the PS2, PSP, Xbox, and original 2006 PC version of the game fully unlocks him as a playable character.
  • It's the first game where Colossus has the unique ability to do the 'Fastball Special' if Wolverine is also in the team. Pressing the grab button when Wolverine is close will make Colossus pick him up and throw him at an opponent. No other character match-ups in the whole game have an ability like this, with the exception of Hulk, who can do the same if paired with Wolverine (likely due to him being an echo of Colossus). The same applies to X-Men Legends 2, where Colossus and Wolverine could also perform this move, but no other characters had similar abilities. This can be fixed to other bruiser-based playable characters via mods, and officially in the second game.
  • Colossus indirectly act as standing-in for Hulk in the first game prior to its Gold Edition update, due to Hulk originally meant to be playable in initial release. Due to Hulk being Marvel company's big superhero name, Colossus is made into an echo playable (only share some same normals) in his playable appearances. This also applies in the third game where Colossus echoes both Luke Cage and Drax.
    • In third game, Colossus echoes Luke's light attack combo string starter, idle stance, walk and run animations; and Drax's light attack combo string ender.
