Gier (ギーア, Giia) is the armed unit which was piloted by Serge and especially prepared by Ideal to counter Leon's Arroganz.
Appearance
Gier bears the resemblance with a centaur—a lower part with four legs, which resembles a horse together with a humanoid upper part. It’s as big as Arroganz, yet compared to it, Gier’s silhouette is slimmer. From the front, Gier looks like a medieval heavy cavalryman; in its right hand, it holds a thick cone-shaped spear (taken inspiration from jousting lances) with its left hand and a large shield with its right hand.
Story Overview
Volume 7
While Serge was hiding and waiting for the preparations to be finished, Ideal showed Serge the new armor. Ideal assured that it was assembled with the specific purpose to destroy Arroganz – an armor to trump Leon. It was then Ideal bestowed it the name “Gier”.[1]
When Einhorn crushed below the temple, Arroganz and the other five armed units left to save Yumeria and Serge followed them to hunt Arroganz. Serge easily crushed the defences that surrounded Yumeria and continued hunting Arroganz despite the Entourage and Loic holding him back. Serge with Gier’s power overwhelmed everyone; but in the end, he failed to prevent Kyle-piloted Arroganz from leaving the temple (with Yumeria).[2]
Afterwards Arroganz and Gier continued fighting outside with Gier thwarting attacks after attacks. Gier’s performance could keep up with Leon-piloted Arroganz merged with Schwert. When Serge overdosed the enhancement drug and got emotional, Leon found the opportunity in Serge’s poor piloting skills and cut of first one leg and afterwards sliced through Gier’s shield and destroyed his left arm. Then Gier crushed to the ground.[3]
Right after Serge’s lost, a piece of the demonic armor fragment hidden inside Gier, which Ideal swore to have destroyed, was activated and took over Serge and Gier. The fight continued and Serge was shooting hundreds of ice spears, but ultimately Gier was neutralised.[4]
Abilities & Gears
Gier was a pseudo Lost Item commissioned by Ideal and used old human technology just like Arroganz. That makes him stronger than other usual armors, a cheat level item. Gier has high performance, it’s very mobile and fast thanks to its jet turbine engine. Serge used the spear as his main form of attack, the shield was relegated to defense and occasional ramming. Gier was also armed with other miscellaneous equipment such as a fire control optics and high-powered homing laser installed on the shield;[3] or lightsabers protruding from the sole of the armor’s four legs.[3]
Furthermore, just like the Arroganz – Luxion dynamic, Gier has integrated command-and-control with Ideal, giving it the necessary situational awareness and electronic warfare to react against Arroganz. The specifications of the armor was also designed to absorb datas about Arroganz performance and counter every of its moves.[1]

After the demonic armor fragment take over Gier and Serge, he was able use supernatural attack such as summoning a wall of ice spears, saturating a vast area over a large distance.

- The name Gier is the German equivalent of the word "Greed", matching how the name Arroganz reflect its owner.[1]
