Melissa Keller

Melissa Keller (born August 4, 1978) is an American model, actress, photographer, herbalist and businesswoman. She portrayed Samus Aran in Iron Woman, the live-action American commercial for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Her identity was unknown for many years until Nathan McGuinness revealed it in a 2023 interview with Shinesparkers.

Early career

Keller was born in Long Lake, Minnesota, and enjoyed skiing and snowboarding growing up. Her modeling career began at the age of 15, and led to work in Milan and New York City. Keller took part in advertising campaigns for such brands as Parasuco, Noxzema, Gap, Revlon, L'Oréal, Aveda, and she appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue each year from 2002-2004.[1]

She appeared as Cindy in the music video for George Michael's song Outside in 1998.

In the commercial, Keller walks along a dimly lit alley as pieces of the Varia Suit materialize over her body. She stops, aims her Arm Cannon forward, and the camera pans to her side as the words "Who Are You?" appear onscreen.

Keller auditioned for the role in Iron Woman and was chosen by Nathan McGuinness, knowing she was right for the job. McGuinness believed that she carried and expressed herself the same way that Samus would. She did not provide the narration for the commercial.[2]

Subsequent career

Keller appeared in the September 12, 2009 episode of Paula's Best Dishes as a guest chef,[3] and in the 2014 Puppy Love commercial for Budwesier, which aired during Super Bowl XLVIII. She also had roles on Entourage, Criminal Minds and Love Hurts.

In 2015, Keller founded a holistic wellness company, Keller Made. It produces bronze sculptures of cacao seeds, fish fins and noses, all hand-crafted by Keller, and she holds wellness retreats in Mexico.
