Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers, better known by her stage name Brie Larson (born October 1, 1989) is an American actress, filmmaker, musician and advocate. She is best known for her role as Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, as well as other films including Room and Kong: Skull Island. She made her directorial debut with Unicorn Store (2017).
Interest in Metroid
Larson has expressed interest in portraying Samus Aran in a hypothetical live-action Metroid film at least twice. During a Halloween party in 2018, Larson dressed as Zero Suit Samus and posted an image of her costume onto her Instagram profile, captioned "Zero Suit Samus had an evening with Harry Potter and it was cute."
The post[1] went viral. In response to a reporter asking if her cosplay as Samus would be the closest thing to a Metroid film, Larson said she wanted to make one.[2] She endorsed a poster made by the artist BossLogic that depicted her as Samus.[3][4]
In a subsequent appearance on Animal Talking with Gary Whitta, Larson was asked about her interest in Samus, and said:
“ | I would love that so much. So I was Samus for Halloween, I think it was two years ago. It was like, literally a $20 costume I bought off of Amazon, it was nothing. I was so excited about it. I posted a picture, I think on Instagram, of me in the costume and it turned into this thing of people being like, whoa! She was always my character that I played in Super Smash Bros., and I just loved her. That whole thing started, and I've definitely not put a squash to that story. I definitely want to make that movie, definitely want to participate in that. So Nintendo, once again, I would love to do it. | „ |
Of note is that the director of Kong: Skull Island (in which Larson starred), Jordan Vogt-Roberts, has also shared his interest and ideas for a Metroid film.

Hi! I'm Brie, I'm just here playing Metroid Dread on my new Nintendo Switch - OLED Model[note 1] which is heaven. Samus is a character that has inspired me since I was a little girl. This large, robotic, powerful character had this blonde ponytail woman at the end of it. I've loved over the years playing Samus in Super Smash Bros. in every iteration. It's always been my go to character. This new version of Metroid, Metroid Dread, It's got everything from the classic games that you would love. Even more weapons, powers. I highly recommend it. It's super fun. It's surprising[note 2] what she can do, and she is an incredible leader. I mean, she's out there just protecting the universe. I can relate to that. |
