Jamal Edwards was a member of the Enterprise's sciences division as a geologist.
In 2151, he member of the away team led by Crewman Elizabeth Cutler to the planet Fazi. On the surface, Edwards encountered a number of Hipon, who tried to telepathically communicate with him, but instead drove him insane. He was in comatose state for days, but eventually recovered.
