Squidguts, known in Japanese as Shiokara (シオカラ), real name Guido Guttaluchi (シオカ ライゾウ, Shioka Raizou in Japanese),[1][2] is a character from the Medabots series.

Description

Squidguts is the oldest of the four cadres of the Rubberobo Gang, playing the role of the team's "muscle". The polar opposite of Shrimplips, he has trouble with kids, and is a firm believer in senior superiority. Called upon whenever brute force is required, Squidguts is sadly good for little else, being infamous for his stupidity, even among the scatterbrained legions of the Rubberobo Gang.

Despite his low intelligence, Squidguts is very much aware of both his own shortcomings and the fact that the Rubberrobo Gang is simply not very good at being villains. He briefly considered leaving the gang to start over and find a new career, but was inavertantly persuaded to instead become a better villain by Karin.

Anime Guido Guttaluchi

Squidguts is a bumbling and incompetent member of the Rubberobo Gang that sometimes caused more difficulty for his fellow Rubberobos than to his enemies, such as when he found Metabee's Kabuto Medal and placed it on Agadama in For Better, For Worse - Part I and II, and when he accidentally revealed that the zoo was run by the Rubberobos in The Birds and the Metabees. After each of the four top members got a new Medabot from their leader, Squidguts got Gobanko and proved to be a powerful Medafighter, although he was unsuccessful in defeating Ikki and Metabee.

Etymology

Shiokara (塩辛, lit. 'salty-spicy') is a food in Japanese cuisine made from various marine animals that consists of small pieces of meat in a brown viscous paste of the animal's heavily salted, fermented viscera. This includes the guts from squids, possibly being the origin of his English name.
