DK Barrels are a recurring object in the Donkey Kong Country series and Donkey Kong Land series. They first appear in Donkey Kong Country. DK Barrels have made various minor appearances in the Mario franchise, the first time being in Mario Party 7.

Mario Party series

Mario Party 6

Two DK Barrels make a background appearance in Tally Me Banana, on a bridge behind where the mini-game takes place.

Mario Party 7

DK's Tree House MP7

Three DK Barrels make a cameo appearance in front of DK's Tree House in the background of the Donkey Kong minigames Jump, Man, Peel Out, and Vine Country.

Mario Party 8

Donkey Kong's intro animation involves him bursting out of a DK Barrel, something that usually occurs when a character lands on a DK Space, but in DK's Treetop Temple, this occurs when reaching a cannon.

Mario Kart series

Mario Kart 7

In DK Jungle, DK Barrels appear on the sides of the track in the jungle portion. A DK Barrel can break open by either driving into it or throwing a Green Shell at it. In doing so, either a Banana Peel or a Super Star launches out of the DK Barrel and onto the race course.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

DK Barrels return as an obstacle of 3DS DK Jungle, acting the same as before.

Mario Golf: World Tour

A DK Barrel is featured during Donkey Kong's Double Bogey animation.

Mario Sports Superstars

In the Golf mode, like Mario Golf: World Tour, a DK Barrel appears in Donkey Kong's Double Bogey animation.

Dr. Mario World

A DK Barrel was featured as Donkey Kong's Skill Effect.

Crossover appearances

Kirby Super Star / Kirby Super Star Ultra

In the The Great Cave Offensive game, one of the items that Kirby can obtain is a Kong's Barrel, worth 1,500 Gold. It is guarded by two Gordos in the Garden Area.

Super Smash Bros. series

DK Barrels make minor appearances throughout the series. Donkey Kong's stage entrance involves him bursting out a DK Barrel in every installment except Super Smash Bros. Melee, in which stage entrances do not appear. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there is a sticker of a DK Barrel depicting its Donkey Kong Country artwork. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, a DK Barrel appears as a trophy.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

DK Barrels make a cameo appearance in the level Do U Stack Up?, where they can be seen floating in the ocean.
