  • The stage name "Hwa Sa" (화사) comes from the adjective 화사하다 hwasahada, which means "to be splendid" or "to be bright".[1][2]
  • Hwa Sa's birth name 혜진 Hye-jin in Hanja is "惠眞", and the interpretation of the name is "Grace in Truth".[1][2]
  • She is left-handed.
  • Hwa Sa has written and composed songs from her early debut days, such as "I Do Me" and "Heeheehaheho".

  • Hwa Sa was a member of Hangout with Yoo's project group REFUND SISTERS as "Sil Bi". The group's members aside from her are Uhm Jung Hwa (aka "Man Ok"), Lee Hyori (aka "Chun Ok"), and Jessi (aka "Eun Bi"). They debuted with the single "DON'T TOUCH ME", and have disbanded as of November 14, 2020.
  • Hwa Sa has gained a large of amount of success on music charts for her songs:
    • "Maria" is Hwa Sa's longest charting song, having spent 15 weeks on Melon's Weekly Top 10 and Top 100 charts, and 14 weeks on the Weekly Top 5.[20][21][22]
    • "DON'T TOUCH ME" charted in 101 countries[23] and gained at least 130 PAKs.[24]
    • Outside of MAMAMOO, Hwa Sa has achieved PAKs for "Don't" and "DON'T TOUCH ME". Due to this, she is the only 3rd generation idol to have PAKs for two songs.[25]
    • When including MAMAMOO, Hwa Sa is the only 3rd generation idol to achieve RAKs for group, solo, collab, and project songs ("You're the Best", "TWIT", "Don't", "DON'T TOUCH ME").[26]
  • Hwa Sa has collaborated with many brands and magazines and become their ambassador, such as Adidas, Vogue, Urban Decay, Burberry, Gucci, etc.
