The Ringló, also known as the Chillflood, was the fourth of the Seven Rivers of Gondor.
The Ringló began in the White Mountains and arose as two smaller rivers on the southern arm that bent towards Belfalas. It flowed through the ford-town of Ethring and passed north of the Hills of Tarnost, where it joined its tributary Ciril. It met the sea at Edhellond, near Cobas Haven above Dol Amroth in southern Gondor. Its main tributary was the river Blackroot. According to Karen Wynn Fonstad's The Atlas of Middle-earth, its length was almost 150 miles.[1][2]
Etymology
Ringló is a Sindarin word that comes from ring ("cold, cool") and ló ("fenland, pool, shalow lake").[1]
