Bila hofu!
―Shabaha's catchphrase[src]

Shabaha is a female lion. She is a member of Simba's pride. She currently serves as the Bravest member of the Lion Guard.

Shabaha initially lived in the Pride Lands. However, because of her loyalty to Scar, she was exiled to the Outlands alongside the rest of her pride. Eventually, the Outsiders reunited with Simba's pride, and Shabaha joined Vitani's self-formed Lion Guard as its Bravest member. Shortly into their tenure, Vitani's Lion Guard was challenged by the return of Kion and his original team. The two held a contest in which they competed over who would be the official Lion Guard. Though Shabaha lost her individual competition to Bunga, her Lion Guard emerged victorious and became the new protectors of the Pride Lands.

Biography

Early life

Shabaha was exiled from the Pride Lands by Simba due to her loyalty to Scar. She and the rest of the Outsiders lived in the Outlands until they reconciled with and rejoined Simba's pride. Upon becoming a Pride Lander again, Shabaha joined Vitani's self-formed Lion Guard as its Bravest member.[1]

Battle of the Lion Guards

Our team is the best.
―Shabaha[src]

One day, Kion's Lion Guard entered the Outlands en route to the Pride Lands. Vitani mistook them for enemies and launched into battle against them alongside her own Lion Guard. Shabaha fought against Bunga, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu. Though Bunga attempted to attack her, she grabbed him and threw him at Janja. She then laughed maniacally, which scared off Cheezi and Chungu. Eventually, Kion braced to use the Roar of the Elders on Vitani's Lion Guard, but Kovu and Kiara appeared and explained that the Outsiders had joined Simba's pride. Though confused, Kion halted his attack.

Return101

The next morning, the Lion Guard entered the Lair of the Lion Guard, only to find that Vitani and her Lion Guard were already inside. Both groups argued that they should be the Lion Guard, as Kion and Vitani each had the right to lead. Just then, Laini approached, begging for help, and both Lion Guards rushed off to assist her.

The two Lion Guards followed Laini to where Thurston was stuck in a hole. Shabaha and Bunga argued over which team was the Lion Guard, while Azaad advised Thurston to free himself. After the rescue, Kion commented that they had to sort out their problems in order to avoid quarreling. Thurston suggested a competition to determine which team was better, and both Lion Guards agreed to the challenge.

Return398

Later, Rafiki formally announced the Battle of the Lion Guards at Mizimu Grove. After several contests, Bunga challenged Shabaha to beat him in an obstacle course and be the first to reach a baobab fruit that was hanging from a tree. Bunga managed to win, as Shabaha hesitated at the daunting challenges. Thus, Kion and Vitani's teams were tied prior to the final match.

For her contest, Vitani proposed a mashindano against Kion despite the fact that she did not possess the Roar. This made Kion realize that Vitani deserved to be the leader of the Lion Guard, and so he willingly passed on his position to her. This solidified Shabaha as the Pride Lands' Bravest.[1]

Physical appearance

Shabaha is a large and well-built lioness. She has gray fur, with a pale underbelly, a pale muzzle, pale eye rims, and pale paws. Additionally, she has dark gray ear rims, freckles on her muzzle, and a patch of dark gray fur on her head. Like most Outsiders, she has a hooked nose and sharp features. Her eyes are blue.[1]

Personality and traits

Bunga: Scared?
Shabaha: Pfft. Never. Looks like fun.
—Shabaha and Bunga, shortly before their challenge[src]
Return66

Shabaha is incredibly brave, bordering on fearless. She enjoys a good challenge and does not shy away from danger. Even so, she is not quite as brave as Bunga, as evidenced by her hesitation during their contest for who was the Bravest in the Pride Lands. In spite of her fear, she was determined to win her competition and did her best to carry through with her task.

Like her leader, Vitani, Shabaha enjoys fighting, to the point that she will smile and laugh maniacally during battle. This often intimidates her opponents. Despite her seemingly bloodthirsty and ruthless nature, Shabaha is rather easygoing and friendly, and shares an especially close bond with her teammates. This extends to her rivals as well; though she and Bunga frequently argued with one another, they nonetheless respected each other's skills and exchanged playful banter prior to their competition.[1]
