Daabi is a female aardvark.
As a calf, Daabi befriended Simba, the prince of the Ndona Pride. Later, when a full-grown Simba returned to claim his birthright from Scar, Daabi and her cousin aardvarks fought on his side, defeating Scar's hyena minions.
Biography
Early life
Daabi lived in the Pride Lands.[1]
Friendship with Simba
Simba and his friend Nala were play-fighting when a gray locust appeared. Nala started to hunt the locust, which led the cub to a termite mound, where Daabi was hiding. Daabi disappeared from behind the termite mound, and Simba decided to pursue her. They merrily chased each other from one mound to another until they smacked heads. Daabi asked Simba several questions about his role as the future king until her mother arrived in a panic, having seen her daughter with a lion. Daabi tried to explain, but her mother angrily carried her away from Simba.
Years later, Mufasa and Zazu escorted an adolescent Simba to a depression near the termite mounds, where Simba was forced to hunt a full-grown Daabi. After Simba whispered to her to run, the two ran around a termite mound until she disappeared into a hole she had dug. The young cub plunged into the hole, but got stuck midway. Daabi then trotted back around the tunnel, losing Simba, who emerged on the other side.
Sometime later, after Scar's murder of Mufasa, Simba returned from his self-exile. At the bank of the Ndona River, Simba gave instructions to Daabi and her cousin aardvarks, along with Herr Rhino, Kwashi, Nala, Zazu, and the spinster ratels Rina and Rada. Along with the spinster ratels, the aardvarks dug a tunnel, which Nala tested. When Simba approved of their handiwork, he ordered them to hide underneath the trees until Scar entered the tunnel, then to fill in both ends of the tunnel when Nala arrived.
A storm formed overhead, and Nala managed to get Scar to follow her into the tunnel. Nala fell into the tunnel, and because of his fear of lightning, Scar fell as well. Nala then sprang out of the hole, and on Simba's orders, the aardvarks and the ratels jumped into their positions and buried Scar in the tunnels. With the hyenas dispersing thanks to the baboons, the animals rejoiced and threw themselves on Simba. However, the animals scattered when Scar emerged from the ground. After Simba defeated Scar in a fight, the baboons, the aardvarks, and the ratels rejoiced over the victory.[1]
Early life
Daabi lived in the Pride Lands. She befriended Simba, the prince of the Ndona Pride, and a zebra colt named Lemuta. She developed a rivalry with Nala out of jealousy over Simba's affections.[2]
Friendship with Simba
On a sunny day, Daabi was playfully chasing Lemuta, who was in turn chasing Simba. Simba halted at a spring pool, but Lemuta smacked the cub in the water, and Daabi did the same to Lemuta. Daabi and Lemuta laughed and began to laugh harder due to Simba's dislike of water. The three friends then saw the lionesses hunting down Lemuta's herd as well as some gazelles. Lemuta saw Simba's mother Sarabi hunting down his mother but was relieved when his mother escaped unharmed. Terrified at what had just happened, Lemuta backpedaled and ran away, leaving Simba and Daabi to themselves.
Continuing their game, Daabi and Simba raced around a termite mound until they knocked into each other. As the friends brushed themselves off, Nala emerged. Simba invited her to play, but Nala, who disliked Daabi, decided to play another time. Feeling snubbed, Daabi left, pretending to have heard her mother calling for her.
Years later, Banagi, Baasho, and the other hyenas gathered at a termite mound, where they schemed to get rid of Nala, whom they felt was coming between them and Scar. From her place atop a termite mound, Daabi overheard their conversation and told Nala the next night. Nala thanked the aardvark for saving her life and ran away.[2]Physical appearance
Daabi has a wet square nose, kangaroo-like eyes, and a long whip-like tongue.[1]
Daabi has feminine eyelashes.[2]
