"Still Life" (봄여름가을겨울; lit. "Spring Summer Autumn Winter") is the second digital single by BIGBANG. It was released on April 5, 2022.
This marks the group's first comeback in four years following the release of their 2018 single "Flower Road".
Background
On February 7, 2022, YG Entertainment officially announced that BIGBANG will be releasing a new song this spring[1] and on March 16, a source from YG Entertainment confirmed the group recently completed filming the music video for their new song.[2] On March 21 at midnight KST, YG Entertainment officially announced the group's comeback date to be April 5 at midnight KST through a teaser poster.[3] On March 24 at midnight KST, they revealed another teaser poster announcing the single's title.[4]
Composition
"Still Life" is described as a song "based on organic and warm band sounds" and an "impressive song with beautiful lyrics added to a timeless melody."[5]
Commercial performance
Following its release, "Still Life" topped iTunes Top Songs charts in 33 regions, and also topped realtime charts on major music streaming sites in Korea, China, and Japan through Melon, QQ Music, and Line Music.[6]
As of 9:30 AM KST on April 10, "Still Life" has achieved a certified all-kill, making them the first male artist to pull off the feat in 2022.[7]
On April 12 local time, Billboard announced that "Still Life" had debuted at No. 1 on its World Digital Song Sales chart and No. 3 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart. This week, it was also No. 24 on the main Digital Song Sales chart and No. 9 on the Global 200.[8]
