Shape of Love (stylized as SHAPE of LOVE) is the 11th mini album by MONSTA X. It was released on April 26, 2022 with "Love" serving as the album's title track.
The physical album comes in seven versions: Love, Originality, Vibe, Everything, Special, Jewel and Kit.
Background
On March 23, 2022, it was reported that MONSTA X would be making a comeback sometime in April, with the members currently in preparations for the album's release. Starship later confirmed the news and stated they would provide more details soon.[1] On the midnight of March 24, the group officially announced that they would be releasing a new mini album titled Shape of Love on April 11.[2]
On March 28, it was announced that member Hyungwon tested positive for COVID-19 and has halted all scheduled activities and currently recovering at home. As a result, the album's release was delayed and a new release date would be announced later.[3] On April 9, the group announced the new release date to be April 26.[4][5]
Commercial performance
According to Hanteo Chart, Shape of Love topped the daily album charts on April 26 and realtime charts as of 3 p.m. KST on April 27. The album also topped both the Worldwide iTunes Album charts and European iTunes Album charts. It hit No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums charts in at least 15 different regions, placed No. 2 in the United States and entered the top 10 in 14 countries.[6]
According to Hanteo Chart, the album sold a total of 321,531 copies in the first week of its release (April 26 to May 2), breaking the group's previous first-week sales record.[7]
