Poppop (stylized in all-lowercase) is the second mini album by NCT WISH. It was released on April 14, 2025 with "Poppop" serving as the album's title track.

The physical album comes in nine versions: Photobook, seven Jewel Case versions, and WICHU (Smart Album).

Background

On February 10, 2025, SM Entertainment revealed that NCT WISH will be releasing their second mini album in the second quarter of the year.^[1] On February 28, it was confirmed that NCT WISH will release a mini album in April.^[2]

On March 20, the group announced their comeback with their second mini album, Poppop, slated for release on April 14.^[3]

Composition

The title track "Poppop" is a dance pop song mixing a bouncy melody, the harmony of bells and lead synths, heavy bass lines, and dynamic percussion sounds. The lyrics written by Kenzie contain the innocent story of two characters who successfully confess their love and finally become lovers. From the moment they fall in love, the world appears as a scene from an animation: the streets the two lovers pass by every day and other familiar sceneries feel new, with the excitement depicted like a fairy tale.^[4]

"Melt Inside My Pocket" is an electro-pop dance genre with a rock feel. It has a combination of guitar riffs, synth sounds, and futuristic FX sources. The lyrics, also written by Kenzie, express the innocent feelings of a first love by comparing it to giving chocolate and confessing to someone one like but hesitating, with the chocolate ending up melting in one's pocket.^[5]

"Design" is an R&B dance pop song with a 2000s vibe. The energetic kick, bass, and detailed sounds create a simple yet flexible flow, added to vocal harmony. The lyrics contain a message of wanting to freely express one's hidden charm and sensibility.^[6]

"1000" is a dance track that mixes R&B and jersey club genres. The song constantly change arrangement from the verse to the chorus, while its lyrics is a cute confession song about folding 1000 cranes to express your feelings for the person you like.^[6]

"Silly Dance" is an uptempo dabs pop song with a fast-paced drum beat, synth, guitar sounds, and an addictive energetic chorus. The lyrics talk about making mistakes and dancing like a fool in front of someone you like.^[7]

"Still 3PM" is an old-school pop song with a 2000s R&B melody that creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. The lyrics, inspired by the encounter between The Little Prince and the fox, express the feelings of trembling while waiting as early as 3 o'clock for the person you like coming at 4 o'clock.^[7]

Commercial performance

Poppop recorded 1.21 million pre-orders as of April 13.^[8]

According to Hanteo Chart, Poppop surpassed 1 million sales as of April 18, breaking the group's previous first-week sales record in just the first three days of its release.^[9]
