May Queen

May Queen (메이퀸) was a girl group under June Entertainment. Originally as four, they debuted on November 8, 2011 with their first digital single, "First Single Of May Queen".

The group disbanded sometime in 2016.

History

2011-2012: First generation, debut with "First Single Of May Queen"

On November 8, 2011, they made their debut with their first digital single "First Single of May Queen". The lineup consisted of JuA, Miso, Haena and Yeonjoo.[1]

All of the members left the group sometime in late 2012.

2013-2015: Second generation, comeback with "2nd Single Album", cancelled comeback

On November 21, 2013, May Queen came back with "2nd Single Album" and introduced an entirely new lineup, consisting of Jinju, Min-G, Noeul and U-Lim.[2]

In May 2014, the group began promoting their song "Amore Mio" at various events and music shows, most notably M!Countdown. The lineup then consisted of Jinju, Min-G, Noeul, U-Lim and Haeju.[3] However, U-Lim left the group shortly after this and was replaced by Sua sometime in August 2014.[4]

In late 2014, it was revealed that the group planned to make first their comeback with Sua in 2015.[5] However, the comeback presumably got cancelled as nothing ended up happening.

In early 2015, the group was active as four with Min-G, Sua, Noeul and Jinju.[6] Sometime after this, the group became inactive and some members went on to re-debut in other groups.

2016: Third generation, disbandment

In early 2016, June Entertainment opened the audition for the third generation of May Queen.[7] In November 2016, May Queen presumably disbanded as the recruited trainees were revealed as members of an entirely new group named MERIT.[8][9][n 1]

Notes

  1. It's unclear why June Entertainment referred to them as members of May Queen then Merit on the same day but it's safe to say that May Queen has already disbanded by then as no further updates about the group were posted.
