Blackmailing victim case
On November 13, 2024, it was reported that the police applied for an arrest against a female SOOP BJ on charges of extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. According to the report, the BJ met Kim Jun Su in 2019 and recorded conversations in order to threaten to leak them on social media. She is accused of extorting around 840 million KRW (approximately $602,323) from the singer through 101 instances of threats from September 2020 to October 2024. On November 15, the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency announced that the BJ was forwarded to the prosecution. Palm Tree Island later confirmed the blackmail and stated that Kim Jun Su had not committed any illegal or criminal acts and the BJ was taking advantage of the singer's position as a public figure. Upon discovering that there are multiple victims of her extortion and threats, Kim Jun Su decided to take legal action to prevent further harm.[4]
