J-Hope (제이홉; stylized in lower case) is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer under BigHit Music. He is a member of the boy group BTS.
He released his first mixtape, Hope World on March 2, 2018. He then made his official solo debut with his first full-length album Jack In The Box on July 15, 2022.
Career
2013: Debut with BTS
He debuted as a member of BTS on June 13, 2013 with the single album "2 Cool 4 Skool".
2018-2019: Hope World, "Chicken Noodle Soup"
On March 2, 2018, he released his first mixtape, Hope World.[1]
J-Hope featured American singer Becky G on his single "Chicken Noodle Soup". The song was released on September 29, 2019.
2022: "More" and Jack In The Box
After the announcement of the group, BTS, going on hiatus, a representative from BigHit Music also revealed that J-Hope will be the first member to begin solo activities.[2] On June 26, it was announced that J-Hope would be releasing his first full-length album, Jack In The Box, on July 15, along with a pre-release single titled "More" on July 1.[3]
2023: "On the Street"
On February 27, 2023, it was announced that J-Hope will be releasing his third digital single, "On the Street", ahead of his military enlistment on March 3.[4]
2024: Hope on the Street Vol.1
On February 18, 2024, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope will be releasing his first special album Hope on the Street Vol.1 on March 29.[5]
2025: World tour, "LV Bag", "Sweet Dreams", Sweet Dreams (zzZ Remixes), "Mona Lisa"
On January 10, 2025, J-Hope announced his first solo world tour j-hope Tour 'Hope on the Stage' starting February 28 in Seoul,[6] as well as upcoming music, scheduled for release in March.[7]
On January 21, J-Hope attended the Men's 25F/W Louis Vuitton show at the Paris Fashion Week where his new song titled "LV Bag" in collaboration with Don Toliver was unveiled.[8][9]
On February 6, BigHit Music confirmed that J-Hope is preparing for a March comeback.[10] On February 27, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope would be releasing the digital single, "Sweet Dreams" on March 7.[11]
On March 9, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope would be releasing the remix album, Sweet Dreams (zzZ Remixes) on March 11.[12]
On March 14, J-Hope performed his new song "Mona Lisa" at the Hope on the Stage New York City show.[13] On March 15, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope would be releasing the digital single "Mona Lisa" on March 21.[14]
On March 17, 2025, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope would be releasing his first English remix single "Sweet Dreams (FNZ Remix)", set to be released the next day.[15]
Personal life
Military service
On February 26, 2023, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope applied for the termination of his enlistment postponement and will soon start his military service.[16] On April 1, 2023, BigHit released a statement stating that J-Hope will be enlisting into the military as an active duty soldier.[17] On April 13, it was reported that he will be enlisting on April 18, although BigHit did not confirm the reports.[18] He was discharged on October 17, 2024.[19]
