Lucia

Lucia (루시아), also known as Sim Gyu-seon (심규선), is a South Korean singer-songwriter under GYU (헤아릴 규).

She used to be signed under Pastel Music (파스텔뮤직) from her debut in 2010 to the end of 2016. She goes by her real name "Sim Gyu-seon" ever since her departure from Pastel Music.

She debuted in 2010 with the song "고양이 왈츠" (Cat Waltz) in the single "첫번째, 방" (The First Room).

  • She wanted to debut under her real name ("Sim Gyu-seon") but an executive of her company found that it was a too masculine name.[2]
  • She is a Roman Catholic; her baptismal name is Lucia.[3] She sang in a church choir when she was young.
    • She sometimes mentions religious themes in her songs:

  • She was the vocalist of Asco (아스코, ASCORBIC ACID), a joint band composed of Busan Arts College and Dong-Eui University students. In 2015, the band participated in the 29th MBC University Song Festival with the song "Feel Love" and won the gold prize.[3]
    • Other members of Asco included: Jeong Jun-kyo (정준교, guitar), Kim Jin-young (김진영, keyboard), Choi Gyeong-woon (최경운, drum), Yu Gyeong-hoon (유경훈, bass)
