Olives appear throughout the series Kiff as a running gag.
The running gag was inspired by a brief visual gag in the episode "Halfway There Day" in which olives are presented as an example of a mediocre snack befitting a Halfway There Day dinner. According to Kiff crew member Abigail Rae Lowe, this "sparked a sharp division amongst the design team about whether olives are good" which subsequently "resulted in bg designers plugging discreet cans of olives into backgrounds throughout future episodes".[1]
