Kim Chaehyun (김채현), known professionally as Chaehyun, is a member of K-pop girl group Kep1er. She is a trainee under WAKEONE. She ranked first in the finale of Girls Planet 999, making her a member of the final group.

Career

Pre-debut: SM Entertainment

Chaehyun became a trainee under SM Entertainment sometime during her second year of middle school, abandoning her public school life. She trained under the label for about 6 years until her departure sometime during 2019 to 2020.[2]

2021: Girls Planet 999, Kep1er

In July 2021, it was revealed that Chaehyun would be participating in Girls Planet 999 as a member of K-Group. Her departure from SM Entertainment was brought up and discussed in the show's first episode during her interview section, where she stated the following; "I trained for six years, I want to prove the years weren't wasted."[2] Following her interview, she performed a cover of "Black Mamba" by aespa for her evaluation performance; unfortunately not being chosen as a TOP9 candidate. Her initial rank was K23, and her first Planet Top 9 rank was P09.

On October 22, Chaehyun finished in 1st place during the final episode with 1,081,182 points and 363,623 votes, making her a member of the show's final group Kep1er.

On November 21, it was confirmed that Kep1er will be debuting in December 2021 with the release of the website Hello, Kep1er.

2022: Kep1er Debut, The Show

On January 3, 2022, Chaehyun made her official debut with Kep1er.

On January 10, 2022, Chaehyun was announced as one of three hosts of SBS MTV The Show in 2022, marking her MC debut.[3]

Personal Life

Education

Chaehyun dropped out of public education in middle school to focus on her training. She instead passed the middle school and high school Graduation Equivalency Exams.
