Demonic Beast (魔獣 Majū?) is the sixth chapter of the Centuria manga series.
Summary
In a flashback, Joseph and his father goes out in the woods hunting a deer. After Joseph wonders to his father if he will be a good a huntsman as him, the man replies that the only thing that should matter is returning home to his family and not letting the forest swallow him, recalling how his friends met their end in the woods and how he doesn't want the same thing to happen to his son, to which Joseph also tells his father that he does not want anything to happen to him as well.
In the woods, Joseph's father tells Angvall that they should proceed with caution based on the unfamiliar beast footprints left behind. After making their way further into the forest, the two come across a large tree with corpses hanging from the branches and Joseph laying on the ground near it who yells out to them not to come near him, warning them that it's a trap. The beast that captured Joseph then emerges from the tree stating how the trap they set up was meant for the "blessed child of the sea". While Angvall becomes shocked and confused by whether the creature in front of her is real, Joseph's father becomes horrified recognizing the corpses hanging from the beast as his deceased friends and expresses his anger towards the beast after it explains its hobby of collecting humans to hear their cries of anguish as a form of amusement. Seeing the beast about to attack them with a swipe of its claws, Angvall comes in to shield Joseph and his father, resulting in her taking most of the damage from the attack sending them crashing back as she bleeds from her helmet and becomes unable to stand.
