History

Background

Desast 15 Years Ago

Desast was an experimental Megid created by Storious as the prototype to the Charybdis Megid by fusing together the three Megid classes (Story, Phantom Beast and Animal) into a chimera creature. Fifteen years ago, Desast was present at the fateful battle between the Sword of Logos and the Megid, when Kamen Rider Calibur attempted to seize the Almighty Book. During the fight, Desast killed Kyoichiro Shinsen and Amane Kagami, before being sealed by Ryo Ogami into an Alter Ride Book.

Resurfacing In Present Day

Desast Revived

Fifteen years later, Desast was released by Kamen Rider Calibur to assist the Megid in their current goals, and was entrusted with the Storm Eagle Wonder Ride Book. During his first mission, he attempted to stop the swordsmen from interfering with the Hanzaki Megid's completion of his book. He fought against Kamen Rider Buster again, and despite initially overwhelming his foe with his Calamity Strike, he was defeated and lost Storm Eagle. This surprised Desast at first, as he left the field hoping to fight stronger opponents.

Desast stabs Daichi Kamijo

When Kamen Rider Saber followed Calibur into the realm of the Almighty Book, Desast somehow managed to follow them while remaining hidden. After Calibur was defeated by Saber, Desast stabbed Calibur from behind with the Grudge Dent and killed him, not wanting to serve under him any longer. He then snatched up his Alter Ride Book, declaring that he was finally free to do whatever he wanted.

Freedom from the Megid

Desast and Kenzan

Now granted his freedom, Desast continued to watch the swordsmen from a distance, only getting involved when the new Wind Swordsman, Ren Akamichi, was present. Because of his newfound freedom, Desast deserted the Megid, not being interested in their goals and desiring only to fight and have fun. He intervened during the three-way fight between Saber, Kenzan, and Legeiel, before exiting shortly after proclaiming that he was no longer with the Megid.

Desast watches

He later showed up again to observe the fight between Kenzan, Saber, and the third Calibur, quickly detecting that the Calibur he saw was a different user from Daichi Kamijo. He realized that Calibur was none other than the seemingly-deceased Kento Fukamiya. When the fight ended with Saber's victory after Calibur had sealed the Fuusouken Hayate, Desast departed from the scene.

Kamen Rider Saber × Ghost

While roaming around, Desast found a girl named Kanon searching for her brother. Desast told her how he could be her new brother, but Kanon refused. While Desast continued to harass Kanon, Touma and Mei arrived to stop him. After fighting off Kamen Rider Saber, Desast went over to Kanon again, only for him to be sent flying by her punch. Saber and Desast went after her, and ended up running into none other than Takeru Tenkuji and Jabel. Jabel attempted to reason with Desast, but he punched him in the nose. It was at that moment that one of Danton's followers arrived. Desast was defeated and driven off by Ghost.

Soul Searching with Kenzan

Desast annoys Ren

Desast would start following Ren Akamichi to act out of his interest in the young swordsman. He was later seen pestering Ren, with the latter telling him to leave him alone. After surviving an encounter with Kamen Rider Sabela, Ren permits Desast to follow along on his pursuit to gain true strength enough to defeat Desast on day, much to the Megid's amusement.

Desast goofing off

Desast would continue to accompany Ren as the Northern Base swordsmen fight against the Sword of Logos. He recognized how the Wind Swordsman refused to rejoin his friends as he sought to find his true strength. Due to him allowing the Megid to accompany him, Ren would often hide his relations with Desast by even dragging him to hide. Ren is avoiding to fight alongside his old teammates, making Desast wonders why he doesn’t want to.

Desast Taking Kyomu

Shortly after Bahato's final death, Mumeiken Kyomu was initially taken by Touma Kamiyama, along with the rest of the eleven Seiken, to create Haouken Xross Saber. Once Mumeiken Kyomu landed back on the ground, Desast quietly took the vulnerable Haken for himself, while the other celebrating swordsmen were completely unaware of his actions.

Final Moments

Desast Becomes Falchion

Desast appeared to meet with Storious following the defeat of Kamen Rider Solomon. Desast questioned his true intentions and Storious responded that it was time for him to write an ending to the tale they lived in. Outside, Storious declared to claim Desast's Alter Ride Book next. Desast refused and wanted more fun before the world could end. He then used Mumeiken Kyomu to transform into the second Kamen Rider Falchion to fight Storious. While the two battled on equal footing, Storious summoned the Charybdis Megid that bit off half of Desast's body, causing his Alter Ride Book to be damaged despite regenerating. After retreating, Desast went to meet up with Ren, challenging him to one last duel to determine his growth.

Desast weakened

Desast dueled Kenzan, but the latter refused to fight at the last second, much to Desast's fury. As Desast's state was deteriorating, he chose not to let Ren know about his condition. When Storious began merging Wonder World with Earth, Desast crossed paths with Saber and challenged him using Mumeiken Kyomu. While Storious arrives, he tells Touma to end Desast's life, as he had already lived his usefulness. He tries to attack his creator, but Desast is later defeated by Xross Saber. While his wounds isn't regenerating, Saber couldn't hide his surprise, as well as Ren from afar.

Final Battle and Death

Desast Death
"Talk about boring... I can't believe that it's over for me. You're fine the way you are, y'know? And also... make sure... you try out that red pickled ginger."
―Desast's final words to Ren before his death[src]

After hearing that Desast had little time left, Ren finally agreed to duel him as Kenzan. While Kenzan struggled due to Desast's continuous barrage of attacks, he tried to employ Blades' techniques much to Desast's dismay. Once he was knocked out of transformation, Ren tried to run for his life much to further Desast's anger. Once Kenzan found the resolve to continue fighting, Desast was be more eager than ever. In the end, Kenzan was able to land a powerful blow enough to finally defeat Desast. As the Megid starts to disintegrate, Desast tells him to add red pickled gingers to his ramen which Ren agrees and solemnly thanked Desast for everything.

Legacy

Desast Remains

With Desast finally vanquished, the deaths of Kyoichiro Shinsen, Amane Kagami, and Daichi Kamijo were likely avenged. Despite the two initially from opposite sides of the same battle, both Ren and Desast bonded over finding freedom to fight beyond their comrades' cause. Ren, in the end, was able to respect Desast as a true rival. He would take Desast's red scarf, Mumeiken Kyomu and his broken Alter Ride Book, solemnly thanked Desast for everything. He also begun adding pickled gingers into his ramen per Desast last request, which Desast kept insisting Ren should add to his meal.

Charybdis use Deast's abilities

After consuming half of Desast body, Charybdis Megid can use Desast's abilities to deal with Sabela which mimics Desast's ability as well such as predicting her ability and performing Desast's combo finisher against Buster and Slash.

Kenzan's Calamity Strike

When Ren joined his fellow swordsmen to storm Storious' Tower of Destruction, Kenzan employed Desast's Calamity Strike to defeat the Lord of Wise, with Desast's spirit fighting along side with him. After his victory, Ren watches Desast's Alter Ride Book and scarf disintegrate in his hands. With that, it would signify Ren found closure with his fallen ally and what was left of the Megid resting in peace.

Kamen Rider Saber: Final Stage

Desast, along with the three Megid generals, was revived and brainwashed by Charybdis Megid to serve an evil version of Tassel from the Dark World. However, once Touma turned the tide, they were able to break free from the villain's control and switched to the heroes' side. Desast teamed up with Kenzan and Espada to defeat one of the Four Sages. Desast and his fellow Megid generals later joined Saikou in his fight against Charybdis Megid. Fully knowing that the destruction of the hybrid monster would lead to their own demise, they still valiantly accepted the fate and let Saikou finish off Charybdis.

Project Outsiders

Using the Odin Advent Deck, Ecole revived Desast by recreating his Alter Ride Book in an effort to combat Zein. But he fled to the city, where he found Ren and asked to fight him. After a brief battle, Horobi appeared and transformed, attacking Desast until Kenzan joined him and repelled Horobi. When Desast and Kenzan were about to resume their fight, they were interrupted by Ark, who used Horobi's body to transform into Ark-Zero and injured Kenzan, forcing Desast to escape with Ren.

After a conversation with Ren, Desast decided to face Ark-Zero. His newfound resolution made his Alter Ride Book resonate with Ren's Wonder Ride Book and transform into Gaikotsu Ninjaden Wonder Ride Book, with his Grudge Dent also transformed into Kokuranken Shikkoku. Gaining a Seiken Swordriver, the Megid transformed into Kamen Rider Desast. Desast engaged Ark-Zero and defeated him, expelling Ark from Horobi's body. After the fight, Nico Saiba arrived and warned Desast that he was marked as evil by Zein and should stay away from Ren. Desast told Ren that he wanted to fight him again, but he needed to deal with Zein first. Desast then walked away. [Ep.2 The Omen of Destruction and Desast's Awakening]

Personality

Desast does not care about his organization's goal and only seeks the thrill of battling those who are worthy of being his opponents. Due to his disregard for anything else and appreciation of independence, Desast often comes into conflict with the other Megid generals, such as when he angered Zooous by revealing their plans to Mei and Rintaro. His desire for freedom is the reason why he was sealed in the first place, and it eventually leads him to betray Daichi Kamijo and kill him in order to retrieve his own Alter Ride Book. Due to only being interested in battle, Desast doesn't go out of his way to attack civilian bystanders like normal Megid monsters. On a funnier note, Desast seems to like adding red pickled ginger into his ramen when eating it, much to Ren's chagrin.

In truth, Desast's battle-loving and carefree personality hides a person who desperately wishes to find a purpose in his life, simply because Storious created him on a whim as a disposable tool. This trait began to show itself once the Charybdis Megid severely damaged his Alter Ride Book, causing Desast to become more impatient with others due to now living on borrowed time. When Touma bluntly pointed out his problems with his lack of purpose and realized that the Megid was facing a life-threatening situation, Desast lost all motivation to fight and chose to forfeit the battle, albeit without denying any of the Flame Swordsman's claims.

In the end, after Ren found a new resolve to become stronger while not losing his sense of self, Desast became overjoyed with unseen tears because he finally found the purpose in his life that he always wanted, which was to make Ren stronger and independent from others. Desast also assured Ren that he'll be fine on his own after his final defeat and eventual demise.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Enhanced Senses: Desast is able to sense when a battle is happening based on the "scent" of the swordsmen, and will only join as long as it is interesting for him.
  • Nigh-Immortality: As long as Desast is in possession of his personal Alter Ride Book, provided that it is not damaged, Desast will not die.

Abilities

  • Expert Combatant: Desast has no fighting style of his own. However, he learns fast, and counters his enemies by determining their weaknesses. This is easily demonstrated with his fights with Ryo, Ren, as well as the Ark.
  • Expert Acrobat: Desast is able to perform acrobatic moves, which are on par with Ren's. During the fight against Reika, Desast and Ren synchronized with each other well to predict her movements and fight her off for a while. He even overwhelms the Ark whose known to overwhelm his enemies by his sheer malice.

Weaknesses

  • Damaged Alter Ride Book: After the Charybdis Megid ate half of his body, Desast's Alter Ride Book began to break apart, forcing him to live on borrowed time. His regeneration capabilities have been severely weakened by this, to the point that even a non-fatal wound on his body was incapable of repairing itself. If Desast forces said wounds to regenerate, his Alter Ride Book will be rendered unusable.

Eternal Phoenix (エターナルフェニックス, Etānaru Fenikkusu) is Falchion's phoenix-based primary form accessed by using the Eternal Phoenix Wonder Ride Book in the Haken Bladriver.

In this form, Falchion's stats are higher than Saber, Blades, and Espada in their Wonder Combo forms. In fact, he is stronger than even Saber Elemental Dragon, though slightly slower. While he does have slightly higher punching power than Durendal, Falchion loses to him in every other stat. Falchion is also outclassed by Blades Tategami Hyoujuusenki in every statistic.

In battle, Falchion can summon phoenix wings to fly and enhance his attacks. This version of Falchion can also use his innate Megid abilities and wield the Grudge Dent as a secondary weapon during combat.

Eternal Phoenix consists of the following parts:

  • Falchion Helm Eternal Phoenix (ファルシオンヘルム エターナルフェニックス, Farushion Herumu Etānaru Fenikkusu): The helmet.
    • Sword Crown (ソードクラウン, Sōdo Kuraun): The blade on the forehead. It is installed on the top of the head as a proof of being selected by the Seiken. It has the role of adjusting the state of Kamen Rider Falchion and the Seiken, and adjusts the power balance between them and cancels transformation in an emergency. It is also a blade with a sharp edge, and can also be used in battle.
    • Phoenicrest (フェニックレスト, Fenikkuresuto): The sensory antennae. It has excellent space grasping ability and can accurately detect attacks from all directions.
    • Nil Visor (ニルバイザー, Niru Baizā): The flame-style visor. It grants the user the ability to sort and clarify the power of sacred attributes by color coding.
    • Eternal Phoenix Mask (エターナルフェニックスマスク, Etānaru Fenikkusu Masuku): The facial mask. It possesses the power of the God Beast "Eternal Phoenix" and brings an endless eternal life to the user.
  • Nil Robe (ニルローブ, Niru Rōbu): An armor worn by a person selected by the Seiken Mumeiken Kyomu. Attached at the same time as the awakening of the Seiken, it gives the user the power to fight, such as improving sword skills, strengthening physical abilities, and activating special abilities. This is a special weapon for using the special abilities of the Wonder Ride Book Eternal Phoenix.
  • Ribreas Cuirass (リブレスキュイラス, Riburesu Kyuirasu): The chest and left shoulder armor. If it’s destroyed by an enemy, the user can be revived by the "eternal light" emitted by the God Beast "Eternal Phoenix".
  • Eternal Phoenix Bauld (エターナルフェニックスボールド, Etānaru Fenikkusu Bōrudo, play on Eternal Phoenix Pauldron): The right shoulder armor. It possesses the power of the God Beast "Eternal Phoenix" and brings eternity that transcends death and rebirth to user.
  • Weben Arm (ウェベンアーム, Ueben Āmu): The arms. The power of the God Beast "Eternal Phoenix" super-activates the body of the user, bringing the power to perform tremendous sword skills.
  • Weben Gaunt (ウェベンガント, Ueben Ganto): The gauntlets and gloves. Originally, it has the power to put on the "eternal light" that cuts off the flow, only on the blade of the Seiken Mumeiken Kyomu that returns all attributes to nothing.
  • Feather Tassets (フェザータセット, Fezā Tasetto): The armor with ultra-thin blades folded like the tail feathers of a phoenix. By wrapping the impact received with a "permanent light", the attack power is converted into its own energy, creating an inexhaustible power during battle.
  • Weben Leg (ウェベンレッグ, Ueben Reggu): The legs. It possesses the power of the God Beast "Eternal Phoenix", boosts jumping power with flight capability, and is good at aerial combat.
  • Weben Sole (ウェベンソール, Ueben Sōru): The feet. By wearing a "permanent light" that cuts off the flow, the user can activate the finisher move "Phoenix Musou" that turns everything into ashes.

This form has the following finishers:

  • Mumeiken Kyomu + Grudge Dent finishers:
    • Fushicho Musou Giri/Calamity Strike (不死鳥無双斬り/カラミティ・ストライク, Fushichō Musō Giri/Karamiti Sutoraiku, Lit. "Phoenix Unrivaled Slash/Calamity Strike"): Falchion sprouts phoenix wings from his back and jumps into the air with his body covered in fire and the Grudge Dent covered in purple energy. He then flies toward the enemy while spinning like a drill and surrounded by fire and spiraling purple energy before ramming into the opponent.

This form has the following finishers:

  • Kokuranken Shikkoku finishers:
    • Calamity Strike (カラミティ・ストライク, Karamiti Sutoraiku): has two variants:

He then flies toward the enemy while spinning like a drill covered in purple energy, executing a horizontal slash and a titled vertical slash afterwards at the opponent.
      • Desast charges the Kokuranken Shikkoku with energy before firing an energy slash at his opponent.

Over time, Desast and Ren become rivals since both of them are in journey to find meaning of their life and strength purpose.
