Io (イオ Io?) is a male lop rabbit Jewelpet who symbolizes Refreshment.
Appearance
Io is a light brown lop rabbit with long, brown drooping ears. His Jewel Eyes are made out of purple iolites. For his attire, he wears a purple ribbon bowtie around his neck.
When corrupted by Dian in the first series, he has angry eyebrows, fanged teeth, and wears similarly to a tribal outfit, consisting of a long grass skirt and a red and white striped collar (complete with his bowtie). He also carries a staff with a purple iolite gem at the top.
Charm Form
Io's Jewel Charm is cone-shaped with a dark blue decor and a snowflake shape in the center. It's base color is light blue and light pink.
Personality
According to the official website, Io is depicted as gentle and leisurely who loves to listen to other people's stories.
In the anime, Io is often loyal, but sometimes childish. He is also easy to get attracted to ladies, especially Opal. In most series, he often ends his speech with the phrase "Dachi" (except the first Jewelpet anime).
Skills
As the Jewelpet of Refreshment, Io's magic spells can make humans pumped up and not get fatigued, as well as to have refreshed mind and thoughts. In the official setting, he is also capable of making them healthy by changing their diet.
In Jewelpet, Io is shown to be able to fly by flapping his ears, akin to Peridot in later series.
History
In Jewelpet
Io is one of the Jewel Eight. In episode 38, Dian brainwashes him into using his inverted power to tire humans out during the Christmas season. Rinko's group reclaims him through a Jewel Game.
In Jewelpet Twinkle☆
Io forms a trio with Chite and Nephrite (despite ironically, being a rabbit himself) as they appear in certain episodes.
In Jewelpet Sunshine
Io makes several appearances in certain episodes, where he is depicted as a rapper. He is from Rose Class, being one of Jill Konia's students.
In Kaiya's matching party (Party Debut, Yay!), Io is the one who courts Peridot, but Peridot bluntly rejects him, much to his despair.
In Jewelpet Kira☆Deco!
Io joins Coal together with Opal, whom he proudly serves as her loyal assistant in collecting the Deco Stones for the Decoranain. He is also shown to have romantic feelings for Coal's alter-ego Coarumi, unaware that "she" is actually Coal himself.
In Jewelpet Happiness
Io is a minor character who often gets mistaken for a dog. In episode 31, he is trained to act like a dog and forms a Magic Gem with Nobara Kitajima.

Io first appeared in episode 13, where he as a tea shop owner informed Momona about different fragrances.
He later reappeared in episode 21, trying to help at the Jewel Festival. He originally was serving juice, but he was clumsy, so Mizuki and Soarer helped him out. He later went to backstage to help Levin to propose to Charon, only get himself and Ruby electrocuted.

Trivia
- Io's jewel motif is the cordierite, called iolite in gemology. Cordierite is a type of magnesium iron aluminium cyclosilicate used as a catalytic converter.
- In Jewelpet (season 1), Io was part of the Jewel Eight where Dian corrupted them.
- Due to Dian's curse, every Jewel Eight have a Dark Jewel Flash. Io is the only one who doesn't have one.
- Io and Sapphie are voiced by the same Japanese voice actress, which is Nozomi Sasaki.
- Depending on the seasons we can get different descriptions of Io power : energy and motivation (Jewelpet season 1), refreshment and healing the body (official character book)
- On the official Jewelpet Sega Toys website his gem power is describe as "Tone your mind and body when you want to clear your mind !"
- Io is the only male rabbit so far in the franchise.
